I worked at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I got free frozen yogurt every time I worked. I had a great manager and some pretty good co-workers. The owner was very nice. It's good if you don't mind a fast-paced environment. Very good culture and values.

    Cons

I never got breaks. I would work up to 7 hours at a time with no breaks. There were many times during the morning and afternoon where only one person was working and then you were lucky if you had three people working. This was fine during the winter or when slow, but when it was busy it was difficult. Very stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe consider ensuring that employees are getting the breaks for meals and such that they should be getting.

I worked at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Free froyo
    - Learned to appreciate other jobs. Including active duty military service. This place was the worst

    Cons

-managers did not communicate well with each other or their employees
    -unacceptable use of expired food
-we were promised raises that we never received
-management had a tip jar. Not the employees. Management. Because they kept our tips. Pro-tip: if this ever happens to you, please at least know that it is illegal.
    -wildly inconsistent expectations, hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more selective about franchise owners--a well meaning independently wealthy mortician does not a businessman make.

I worked at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - paid well including minimal increases in wage for every 90 days worked
    - 1 small free cup of froyo for every shift worked!

    Cons

    - sometimes had to close or open the store alone during slower seasons. I wasn't a huge fan of that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give costumers the option to give more input on toppings and flavors

It depends on franchise owner. I only gave three stars because I LOVE the store and with good owners it could be great

    Pros

You get to work by yourself, so you can have a day of working your butt off, and then the next day sit on your phone the entire day. It doesn't really matter and I loved the aspect of creating my own time schedule. I started at 9 bucks an hour which is pretty good for how easy it is. Free frozen yogurt. Lots of freedom. No manager. Only me and three other employees who I rarely saw. It really gives you a sense of ownership over the store.

    Cons

After switching franchise owners I got a dollar pay cut to 8 bucks an hour + way more work. I was never paid on time, they would edit the hours I was clocked in for when they thought I 'didn't get enough done during those hours' so essentially if I had an easy day I didn't get paid for it. As great as being alone is, it would be nice for maybe weekend nights to have two people working together. It can be so difficult having 20 people in the store and going between getting them samples, checking them out at the register and keeping the place clean. The paycut was really crazy for the amount of work I did. I was by myself all day and made yogurt, cut fruit, cleaned, waited on customers, ordered all new items we needed, dealt with all the marketing stuff, and set up fundraisers, I ran social media, if anything broke down in the store I had the numbers of the air conditioning guy, toilet guy, cash register guy, and I scheduled appointments for them to come fix stuff, I received all the big shipments and organized and kept inventory of all of it on my own. I was practically a general manager we ALL were and I hate that there were days I'd not get paid at all when putting my whole heart into keeping the place up and running.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate that your employees are doing all of your work. Don't take the fact that the business is losing money out on employees by simply deciding not to pay them. Do NOT buy a franchise if you aren't ready to sacrifice in the beginning. Absolutely ridiculous how I was treated here.

    Pros

Hours good. Interacting with new people was fun. Easy job in general. Management was great at this location.

    Cons

Sometimes closing shift took a while to complete. Providing samples to customers can cause disagreement with some.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more employees for closing shift.

I have been working at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The time off policies were excellent. I could have lots of time off. The leadership went the right direction. No one yelled at me, and everybody praised me for my efforts at the end of the day. Free Froyo is awesome.

    Cons

The company values were honesty, responsibility, fairness, respect. I got health insurance and also got life insurance. The personal growth as a employee was ok. Let staff sit when nobody's in the store and let us get to wipe off spoons for re-cycling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let people do what they want. Hire high school sophomores to college seniors. Hiring high school freshmen is ok.
