At the very begining "Idea" (former name of Orange in Poland) was properly managed and reputable company. Once it was acquired by Orange (France) and TPSA (France Telecom) , things have been going worse and worse.
Nowdays the technical staff produce more reports and presentation for company executives that deal with equipment... Lack of career path, many managers with no abilities to act as managers...
Advice to Senior Management
let the technical staff carry out daily duties instead of filling excel sheets and update another presentations, provide technical specialists with carrier path possibilites in the area of technology expertise
Pros
A leading company with Friendly working environment
Often uses advanced technology
Awesome and intresting projects
Vey talented technical team in bristol.
Cons
-uncertainity of the jobs
-Management and communication with the staff is not upto the mark
-slow organization leading to delay in projects
Advice to Senior Management
communicate more with the individuals
Please sort out pay/ bonus differences like a senior developer & good performer gets less than a junior developer with not so great performace.
Decrease outsourcing and short term contractors
Pros
Very good life and work balance
Good Employer
Decent package
Cons
Uncertain about jobs going forward
Advice to Senior Management
communicate more
Pros
Friendly environment, generally flexible. Often working with cool technology.
Cons
HR staff are useless and buildings have poor facilities.
Processes are prevent things from being done internally. As a results the best work is outsourced to achieve good time to market but remains poorly integrated.
No chance of any creativity in the work place, you must stick to the process.
Lots and lots and lots contractors who are just there for the money.
Very old fashioned "top down" management, along with poor leadership and communication
Quite often given responsibility for things but not given authority to change anything to make things better
Advice to Senior Management
Replace yourself with someone else who understands what people need to do work.
Pros
Good location, nice office environment. Some very talented and skilled people in London office.
Cons
Lots of beurocracy. Little autonomy given, even to some very senior people within the organisation. Need to sell each project in to lots of different stakeholders. Slow time to action most things, meaning delays in projects and frustrations all around.
Advice to Senior Management
Drive change management to effect change on time to market processes and procedures. Allow more autonomy to staff to get the job done.
Pros
well-recognized company, leading company, many opportunities for job changes inside the company, dealing with interesting topics - VoIP, TV and web2.0, good environment
Cons
bad raises, slow organization which makes it difficult to release projects quickly, lots of contractors
Advice to Senior Management
decrease the number of contractors
Pros
- 45 days of holidays
- innovative and interesting projects
- the salaries are fair enough
Cons
- bureaucracy
- the size of the company is not adapted to fast track projects
Advice to Senior Management
give more flexibility to projects
