Pros
People are great at oreck
Cons
Needs to protect the brand better
Advice to Senior Management
communication is the key to a strong relationship
Pros
Good products overall. Good relationships with co workers. Good work environment. Not many other good things that I can think of.
Cons
Upper management has no clue what they are doing. Tom and David Oreck are not running the company anymore. New management is and since then, it's a terrible place. Pay has been cut by over half in many cases. We live daily under constant threats and micro managing. Corporate headquarters are only marginal when help is needed. Often we do not seek help from them for fear of the problem backfiring. What does upper management do? They look at stats but are clueless at what they see. Here's a true example...if your store had a bad day last year of just $ 30 in sales and this year on that date, you did $40, you get praised, " good job you increased sales 25%!" But if you did $4,000 last year and only $3,800 this year, there is no praise. You failed to meet last years sales. I could go on and on but I wont.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring back Tom and Dave. Try to earn a living for 1 month in a retail store and see what it's really like. The company should be our ally not our adversary. The picture shown is that of Dave Oreck , not Bill Fry.
Pros
it is a relaxed work environment most of the time good for a student like me
Cons
management dumps duties on sales associates and blames them whenever something goes wrong
Advice to Senior Management
know better who is being given responsibilities of management.
Pros
Fantastic products, great pay, laid back atmosphere, fun co workers, great customers, nice location, affordable things to sell, great value. american company with great traditions and beliefs
Cons
holiday hours (who doesnt hate that)
customer challenges, lots of meetings, high expectations, lots of paperwork, sometimes the pay can be confusing.
Advice to Senior Management
this company goes out of their way to make sure that all the employees are informed, and knowledgeable regarding the products. there really isnt anything that they have dropped the ball on!
Pros
you get to meet people from all walks of life, show the pro and cons of other products, you make friends.
Cons
the cons is being open 7 days a week, that bites
Advice to Senior Management
need to change the head of the vac to big and can't get under things, to many returned for the same reason
Pros
At Oreck customer service is number one. Every customer that walks throught the door is greated by a friendly and knowledgable sales person who number one priority is to assist the customer in finding the best products that will accomidate the customers needs.
Cons
Pay could be a little bit more competive. Other areas that need to be addressed is the way product is packaged, it all looks too commercial. Packaging needs to be more retail friendly.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your staff more. Try spending a week in one store doing what we do on a daily basis. I know if you do that you will have a better understanding as to what should change or be inproved upon.
Pros
I enjoy working for Oreck because I get to do many different things throughout my day! i get to be sales proffesional, a customer service specialist a mechanic, a problem solver, a team player, ect! there are so many great reasons why I love to work at Oreck!
Cons
A lot of the business is generated through advertsement which is not aways possible to do for cost reasons and since part of my pay is com i dont always have a GREAT paycheck when store traffic is down.
Pros
The employee discounts are pretty great. The company has gone down hill (quickly) but the vacuums still remain top notch.
Cons
It feels like we are all being trampled on daily. Even if/when we hit LY its never good enough. Our DM is unethical and unprofessional. Ive never been so offended by anone in his position before and can not wait to leave so I dont have to deal with his behavior.
Advice to Senior Management
Advice would be to talk to your front line. Do not keep assuming that your DM's are giving it to you straight because they may be the problem. Do more of the survey's on a regular basis. Upper is not in stores enough to really see what is happening and the surveys help as long as they are anonymous.
Pros
Great products. Great Service. Allowed to work independently i.e. not micromanaged by management. Pay for performance . . . pay plan is not capped . . . but it is very hard to reach high 5 digit or 6 digit earnings. Professional sales process taught and executed at retail level. Team based performance bonus plan. Short commute . . . benefits of commission based sales without travel.
Cons
The pay plan is not commensurate with the quantity or quality of work that is provided by most staff members.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management needs to listen better and respond to the suggestions of to front-line staff. Upper management needs to be more considerate of front-line staff.
Pros
pay for the area, work hours, other agents,a couple of the team leads are really good to work with, family oriented by agents
Cons
sr mgr childish, petty and immature for age
favoritism blatant for those that "suck up" and none for others
mgr decides doesn't like someone, and then looks for reasons to make them leave, or fired
those that do a good job get no recognition
no reward program
not employee oriented kindly
Advice to Senior Management
foaor those that actually work instead of those that play all day and cause , or keep, drama going
treat all with respect not childishness, petty
