I have been working at Oregano's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

This is a great place to work because it is such a fun atmosphere and most of the people there love being there. The hardest part can be taking time off, although that has changed recently.

    Cons

You only get 20% off, even when you are working. Management can be inconsistent. There is also a pretty high turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to make everything more streamlined and fair rather than inconsistent.

I worked at Oregano's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun, fast-paced and allows or personal interactions. Work hard, build relationships, earn your tips, don't be lazy and you'll enjoy working at Oreganos. The place is always busy so embrace the fact that you have a good job at a busy/steady company.

    Cons

Typical things/people that come with working in the restaurant setting. Don't get caught up in the drama and you'll be fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restaurants are team-based environments. I would consider more team-oriented encouragement.

I worked at Oregano's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

2 days off in a row. Lively work environment most of the time.

    Cons

Paid salary was for 45-50 hours, but often worked 70+ hours. Schedule changed weekly so it was difficult to adjust. Upper management had a tendency to micromanage staff and would often act vindictively. Benefits were given, then taken away, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let managers manage. Be honest about expectations, provide support and let the professionals do their job. Also, taking away employee benefits is not the best way to improve the bottom line.

They value customer service above all else so you are sure to learn a lot about delivering outstanding customer service.

    Cons

Very hierarchical culture (managers treat the rest of the employees like they're useless)
Expected to know an insane amount about the restaurant (every single ingredient in every single dish, regardless of position)
    No job security
