    In-depth volunteering experience.

    Volunteer (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsVolunteering for Organizing for America during the 2012 election got me more involved in the democratic process and provided me with a huge sense of accomplishment on election night.

ConsLong hours for no pay and little recognition.

Advice to Senior ManagementA little acknowledgement/appreciation goes a long way.

    Frustrating

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsObviously a difficult year in politics, but coworkers remained upbeat and mostly respectful even in the face of vitriol.

ConsNot good at accepting feedback. A little bit cult like in that when things weren't working on the ground, the response was to double down instead of changing tracks

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsLots of responsibility/autonomy
    Motivated and passionate staff
Connecting with amazing people you wouldn't have met otherwise

    ConsNo pay
    Lack of structure
Focus on perpetuating cheesy rhetoric instead of taking action

    Advice to Senior ManagementHillary 2016.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great short-term job.

    Field Organizer (Former Employee)

ProsAll of the people you work with are passionate about the same thing. There is no question what the long term goals are. Tools for success are available, if you ask for them.

ConsOffice culture is not great. Cliques are quickly developed and it includes the management team. Little work-life balance because every moment is part of a race.

Advice to Senior ManagementClearly identify short term goals and make sure there is a standard that is followed.

ConsNo pay. Not enough manangement due to the fact that they work at times of elections.

    A well-oiled machine.

    Field Organizer (Former Employee)
    Charlotte, NC

ProsThis organization was a well-run, professional, standardized campaign. Each state, region, and city had a well-established hierarchy and division of labor, as well as defined expectations for employees.

ConsAs with any campaign, the expectations and priorities were always a bit up in the air. Problems associated with this were minimized by the overall professionalism, but it could be a stressful state of affairs.

ProsLearned so much about local and national politics, learned to multitask in high pressure situations, gained confidence and experience for future jobs.

ConsVery long hours every day for the 4 months I was there, non existent personal life, constant travel, tired all the time...

Long days and low pay but you do make a difference

    Field Organizer (Former Employee)
    Columbus, OH

ProsIf you believe in progressive politics and empowering people it is very built on those ideas. Very strong sense of community and fun atmosphere. No two days are the same. Opportunities to deal with principals in both the public sphere and consultant sphere.

ConsNo days off. Maybe 1 a month. Will encounter many rude people due to the nature of our polarized political system. Low pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore networking between senior staff and junior staff. One exit interview does not a relationship make.
