I worked at Organizing for America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Its goal-oriented culture instilled into each Staff Member,a sense of personal responsibility to re-elect the President. Also, the Organization is managed "by the book".

    Cons

Staff members are required to make a large number of recruitment calls, each week. This can be tedious work.

I worked at Organizing for America as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great mission, working with community members, some opportunities for leadership on certain projects.

    Cons

Can be very disorganized, unclear leadership structure, goals are not always clear. I worked a lot of events that were not well planned- such as a speaking event which had people waiting in line for hours in the summer, in South Florida, with no prior plans to accommodate this situation. Only an hour into the line up for the event did it occur for organizers to go out and buy water for people waiting in line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better training for field organizers, more cohesive training and networking program for interns- it would be nice to have more opportunities to meet and interact with other interns, share experiences etc.

    Pros

Chance to work with and network with a huge array of people. Great experience building opportunities that grant increasing responsibility, depending on your manager.

    Cons

You will spend all of your time working, but that is to be expected on a campaign. Too many people giving too many, sometimes conflicting, orders without enough people to do the real work of organizing. Poor support structure

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Far too many layers of management for field staff as election season ramps up and hires are made.

I worked at Organizing for America as an intern

    Pros

Obviously a difficult year in politics, but coworkers remained upbeat and mostly respectful even in the face of vitriol.

    Cons

Not good at accepting feedback. A little bit cult like in that when things weren't working on the ground, the response was to double down instead of changing tracks

I worked at Organizing for America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

All of the people you work with are passionate about the same thing. There is no question what the long term goals are. Tools for success are available, if you ask for them.

    Cons

Office culture is not great. Cliques are quickly developed and it includes the management team. Little work-life balance because every moment is part of a race.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clearly identify short term goals and make sure there is a standard that is followed.
