    Pros

The company was able to attract caring, dedicated employees due to the potential of the product lines.

    Cons

Management and owners weren't fully committed to the long term that a Biotech company needs to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It will be good if you get through this crisis, perhaps there will be a 3.0.

    Pros

Products are second to none -- quality of life improves for patients using Apligraf or Dermagraft.

    Cons

Company was seriously impacted from changes in CMS rulings regarding reimbursement. Communications from the top are weak. Company vision is vague and appreciation of employee dedication is lip service.

    Pros

The company will show you where you don't want to work in a matter of weeks.

    Cons

The environment was friendly when I first started. It seemed like the company really cared about it's employees but that wasn't even close to being accurate. It didn't take long for management to create a revolving door. The worst department was quality, seemed like they were losing a person each day. No one in upper management seemed to care. After a while it became blatantly obvious everyone was out to protect their own job, if that meant spreading lies or taking credit for someone else's work so be it. Quality was always blaming the other groups for mistakes and never took responsibility for their own mistakes, they would just cover it up or blame another group for going rogue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get lost! Most of you came from failing or failed companies and the person that hired you should have been able to tell from your track records you are the problem not the solution.

Very exciting place to work. Was very team oriented and good example of cross-functional matrix style organization.

    Pros

Fun, always something happening to keep interest and engagement level high. Provided opportunity to advance.

    Cons

Could become slightly dysfunctional at times due to rapid shifts in competitive environment although this is characteristic of the business niche that the company occupies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that owners and executive team are on the same page for the long haul with full contingency planning for all scenarios.

    Pros

Flexible, smart people. They make and sell a cutting edge technology that makes a difference in patients lives. Plenty of space to do ones work and professional working environment.

    Cons

One product that makes money for the company so when pricing pressure came, they couldn't withstand the blow. This caused layoffs. Strategic decisions are made by a small group of individuals at this privately held company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I am sure they are working on it, but diversify the products manufactured and sold.

    Pros

Convenient location, some good people with lots of knowledge. Lean organization which could help communication but doesn't

    Cons

Very much an old boys club with a lot of hierarchy. The owners do not understand the pharmaceutical business at all. Management does not take criticism at all and does not know how to run a business correctly as they have been set in their ways for way to many years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The advantage of a small privately owned company should be, short communication lines, fast decisions and adaptability. Non of this applies to this company. Start paying attention to how other pharmaceutical do what they do. A great pharma company requires a good product (which this is) but also smart investment decisions and a vision. Develop a long term vision, make a plan, invest and execute that plan.
