I have been working at Origami Owl as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

People get excited when they find out you're a designer and a good sales team can really make the difference.

    Cons

Big cities can have oversaturation of other designers who already have a large customer base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be an incentive for older, more established designers to "spread the wealth" of jewelry bar bookings so that those designers that are just starting out get a chance to establish their own customer base. Right now, while sales teams are very supportive, one additional sales rep in the area is still competition.

I have been working at Origami Owl as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Origami Owl is a fast growing company. They provide high commissions and a very good override program. They have an excellent brand and have worked hard to maintain it. Product design innovation is also good.

    Cons

The company grew too fast so there were a lot of bumps including computer system that was not in step with industry standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work hard to improve communication to sales reps. Focus on quality control.

I worked at Origami Owl as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

I can not think of one.

    Cons

poor support from their 'Nest' with hold times reaching almost 4 hours then when you finally do reach someone they are less than helpful and not very nice. Very little communication and slow response time with questions as a new designer. Poor training available. Just felt like they wanted my money and weren't gonna do a while lot to help me get going. Product constantly out of stock and backordered and then refunds are given without notice, you just have to check your bank account and hope for the best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more help for your consultants, train the nest staff to be more polite and knowledgeable and look things from the perspective of one of your designers not just from behind a desk.

I have been working at Origami Owl part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Loveable products
Not just jewelry - provides an emotional connection so it's easy to sell
    Excellent compensation plan
Excellent support system to help you learn and grow

    Cons

These products are extremely popular right now and on occasion a defect slips through. However, they are very good at providing replacements.

At times it can be hard to get through to the home office but they have an excellent leadership team in place to assist when you follow the correct protocol.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in a larger customer service department to handle phone calls. Technology is great but sometimes we still like to talk to a real person.
