I have been working at OshKosh B'gosh full-time

    Pros

Great environment and great people. Company really strives to develop its employees for the next level. Training for new employees and promos is thurough and the company gives extra payroll for the training. The people above you, in corporate and all the different departments are easy to contact and there to help, great communications.

    Cons

Medical benefits are expensive but good. SMs are left out of the training/development piece unless your boss really favors you, then you are put in to an amazing program to get you ready for next level. Workload is high, expectations are higher. Work and life aren't separate enough, but it is retail; schedules change and your life is second to the needs of the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take more time to develop your store leaders, it will only make your life easier. The possibilities of delegation will grow and the depletion of micromanagement will be the outcome.

I have been working at OshKosh B'gosh

    Pros

The company is awesome to work for. District management is fair and direct, communication from corporate offices is timely and clear. Its a very laid back company as far as retail goes, but still professional.

    Cons

In store communication is very poor; great systems put in place by corporate are not followed through or communicated to staff. Frequently changing policies creates tension and stress with goals that are already difficult to meet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Appreciate your staff

I worked at OshKosh B'gosh full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Enjoyed interacting with the customers and their kids. Product knowledge helped to sell the clothing. Enjoyed getting the employee discount even on top of the sale prices.

    Cons

District manager not involved enough with the day to day happenings in the stores. Should visit more often to give feedback on what to continue doing well and what needs changed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great place to work Carter's is a great company. The company feels like a family, my team was great it's not a hard place to work and because of the prices being so great they have great loyal customers. The work/life balance is good, my store hours were great, they are upon the technology, emailing upper management and computerized scheduling, their pos systems are good, return policy is great, managers communicate with staff well, back room organized and big, bathroom for customers to change kids is rare in stores that aren't department store Carter's understand that it's a kids store

Store manager doesn't know what she's doing, doesn't follow company rules

I worked at OshKosh B'gosh full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

flexible schedule, decent discount because you can use it on clearance, good pay if you are mgt or above, that's about it really.

    Cons

They don't spend enough on payroll, so the expectation is nothing close to reality. No work/life balance, have a training program that is good, but because you are always running on to little payroll it isn't really effectively used. underpaid associates with no hours to give out so it's hard to keep good staff. every year they have a new training focus so they layer on more unrealistic expectations. They overwork the mgt, and under work the staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your talent. Benefit your full mgt staff. When you have cooperate visits they need to see the real story, not the dog and pony show you put on.

I have been working at OshKosh B'gosh

    Pros

New direction from upper management that seem to welcome more ideas and opportunities for growth. Great people to work with. Good benefits.

    Cons

Sometimes difficult extended hours. Difficultly working with other parts of the business groups who are located in other states. Lack of solid, visible efforts to promote from within, before going outside the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in better communication and information transferring system. There are so many companies that run "international / multi-state" companies that manage cross-functional teams that can pass information smoother and faster than they do at OshKosh. Invest time looking for and encouraging current employees to apply open positions before looking outside the company.
