    Pros

Great experience Good people Good pay and benefits

    Cons

Work-Life balance Felt like high school in terms of advancement-if you didn't golf with the right group, forget it

    Advice to Management

Could be a great place to work if people cared about the work they did and not just their next opportunity.

I worked at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good paying job for Oshkosh and good support for surrounding businesses.

    Cons

Working overtime all the time and still continuous layoffs. Always running out of parts because of purchasing.

    Advice to Management

Just because you hire kids fresh out of college doesn't mean they know how to run a company. Need to quit blaming employees for their mistakes. Hopefully there will be progress in Oshkosh as promised when they extended the contract to keep work in Oshkosh.

    Pros

Some great leadership talent throughout. Defense is passionate.

    Cons

No diversity. Not a very good work environment, competitive vs team oriented. Not enough consistency or collaboration across segments.

    Advice to Management

Diversify talent. Consistency in business systems. Focus on improving culture. I believe the company struggles because there is no focus on its people.

Stable work, and the customers are interesting.

    Cons

    Medical benefits are third-world class'

    Advice to Management

Benefits will keep the best employees. Benefits are worth 20%+ of fair compensation. A Salary or hourly wage is only part of the package.

    Pros

A good first job to have coming out of college with lots of oppurtunities to work on big projects and have direct impacts to processes.

    Cons

The expectation of working a lot of hours. A culture to work harder vs smarter and the typical glares if only working an 8 hour day.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time

    Pros

The work is challenging and is team oriented. Management can be demanding, but allows employees to take ownership and initiative to succeed. Sometimes feels a bit directionless, but that provides opportunities for team oriented employees to step up and take the lead. Co-workers are great and helpful. Management in my division is very team positive, open to personal initiative, encourages ideas, innovation and have high company values. If you are a team player, come in everyday committed to do your best, be supportive and understand that company shortcomings are opportunities to your career, then you'll find this a great place.

    Cons

Can be demanding and stressful for both managers and employees (which is why many comment on manager demands). Can sometimes require long hours for salaried employees. Can often seem one person short of a full team (or there's not enough hours in the day to finish tasks).

    Advice to Management

Consider more company news and accomplishment sharing with employees. More empathy with union employees might go a long way. Overall, management is very good, but the energy does not seem to flow down as well as could be.

I worked at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Decent benefits (after 30 day waiting period). Some opportunity to advance or move to a different segement.

    Cons

As a former member of the HR department, I can tell you first hand that the company does not care about its employees. They want to hire as many people to get as much work done as efficiently as possible. You'll get hired, make a lot of money for a while and get let go the moment they don't need you. There is no such thing as work life balance with this company. If you don't want a life outside of work, you'll be fine. You'll make a lot of money but will never have the time to spend it. Management does not work on development of employees or consider employee engagement an issue. Workforce is not happy. Work environment is not enjoyable. Management picks favorites and throws money at them... if you're not on the favorite list, good luck!

    Advice to Management

Reconsider your whole approach... your employees are not happy!
