    Pros

Make as much as money as you are willing to work for. Set your own schedule for the most part. Plenty of 3 day weekends.

    Cons

Travel, travel travel.. If you are not self motivated this is not the job for you. Some supervisors arent as educated as others therefore your ratings fluctuate depending on who you are assigned to.

I worked at Osmose Utilities full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There really aren't any pro's other than maybe flexible hours and possibility of production bonus (depending on your foreman and rest of your crew), but that's about it honestly.

    Cons

Pretty much everything. Lack of communication. Unprofessional management structure. Crew members are treated like the scum at the bottom of the company

    Advice to Management

Have a better screening of your management promotions. Treat crew members like they matter and aren't just disposable bodies. Teach your foreman, general foreman, and supervisors some Management 101 and how to speak with other employees.

    Pros

Loved the work. Loved the job. Loved the peace and quiet (Note: this was dead silence through out the office)

    Cons

Nothing to aspire to or path for progression. Money and benefits left a lot to be desired. Highly active and informed rumor mill. Lack of light in the office.

    Advice to Management

Career paths and prospects go a long way to making people happy when benefits are less than desirable.

I have been working at Osmose Utilities full-time

    Pros

Decent pay, good start out if you are not afraid to be outdoors and hard work! Hire just about anyone

    Cons

In courage cheating on Spouse! Long stays away from family in poor hotels. Weeks and weeks of being away with only a few days to visit family if family pays to come see you! Rude! Don't stay around home. Claim to work in Texas but spent more time in Colorado and New Mexico. Hires anyone off the street pretty much don't care about backgrounds or drug tests so you may be sharing a room with a felon and/or drug attic. Ruining my marriage

    Advice to Management

Stay close to home! Higher decent people not just anyone off the street! Needs standards not whatever guys and alcoholics

I worked at Osmose Utilities (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I definitely recommend doing a stint at Osmose, Inc. Because after you leave your life will be so much better you'd think you'd won the lottery ten times over. The one good thing is that there's some honest employees who do their jobs and care about quality. But they know they're getting taken advantage of so there's been an exodus.

    Cons

It's hard to know where to start. It seems like the Company just lets the property rot. The ceiling leaks, there's lots of graffiti, feral animals everywhere, weird smells, problems with maintenance and this big metal gate broke and fell onto someone who was pinned down and got real hurt. People had stuff stolen out of their cars in the parking lot. The neighborhood isn't the best so management makes fun of the ghetto area. It's not so funny when you get approached by random people on the way to your car. Security needs to be beefed up hardcore. Unfortunately the Company treats employees worse than they treat the building. The Company has a list of what it calls 'core values' but good ethics ain't one. The only thing lower than wages is employee morale. Upper management seems like an old boys club. The resentment in the office is sky high. There's a really strong anti-management spirit and people hate the place. Employees act out and share whatever secret info they can get their hands on. Some of them organized and found out that people doing the same job are paid very differently. There's a lot of dirty laundry in there, inappropriate behavior and jokes about bad stuff. People are sick a lot.

    Advice to Management

You are lazy and it shows. Start paying attention and caring about things. You'd be amazed on what goes on under your nose inside and outside the office. Check on people afer hours. Productivity could be way higher. There's a lot of company money that's just wasted. Flushed down the toilet by bad decisions. A lot of people could use a good management course. You need to turn morale around. Start by being honest with employees. Don't try to fool them into thinking that worse conditions are a blessing in disguise or that there's no plans to cut more jobs. They've watched and learned how things operate. It's sad. The Company could be really good if management wasn't incompetent and stopped wasting money.

I worked at Osmose Utilities full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits package is offered

    Cons

Extensive travel, normal work weeks exceed 60 hours. Salaried workers are abused.

    Advice to Management

You need more mid and low level managers - top heavy. Get back to a focus on employees and their families

I have been working at Osmose Utilities full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

For those with no experience in management, being a foreman is a great start. You learn the responsibilities of managing your own crew and maintaining company equipment as well as performing on your own.

    Cons

Inconsistent and vague. You have a manual that states basically every situation you'll encounter, yet supervisors and managers don't care and make up their own specs. The restrictions of being home while working an hour away from home. Company truck has mileage restrictions obviously, above 60 miles from home and you are stuck at a hotel that costs more than the gas to get you home, while your supervisor who's truck is leased by the company goes home nightly.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with the guided instructions set out for employees. Don't punish them for doing the right thing and not what you imagine is right. Communicate with your employees and keep them able to work. Don't fail them by running out of materials you are supposed to order and then discipline them when they are unable to work when it was your fault.

I have been working at Osmose Utilities full-time

    Pros

Low barriers to entry, pretty much anybody can work there, free bad coffee in the break room, you can dress however you want, listen to music on headphones all day

    Cons

Faulty equipment, dumpy office, useless supervisors, low pay, tedious work, stressful environment

    Advice to Management

Invest in employees as opposed to leaving them out on their own, pay better and you'll get better results, have supervisors actually supervise, move out of that awful office park

    Advice to Management

Instead of hiring trainees off the street advance experienced crew members
