Former Employee – worked at Osram Sylvania
Pros – good benefits but a lot of cost cutting has eliminated many of the best benefits
Cons – Too much politics and backstabbing. Large company politics makes it difficult to be productive. Most of the challenging work is being performed oversea where cost are lower. US design work is limited to cost reduction. More of a job shop atmosphere in design engineering and no chance for career advancement unless you are a political expert
Advice to Senior Management – You won't be able to improve moral unless you get rid of all the entrenched middle manager who are more concerned about there jobs than actually coming up with innovative products

Former Employee – worked at Osram Sylvania
Pros – Good sick time and vacation time.
Cons – Upper management are living in the 20th century. There is little to no innovation, any innovation is squashed for short term profits. It'll be exceedingly difficult to modify their business model to fit the post incandescent age.
Advice to Senior Management – Clean house, starting at the top, get innovative thinkers to lead the next generation of lighting products.

Former Employee – worked at Osram Sylvania
Pros – Large company. Decent benefits. Tolerant of poor performers. Unless you are in a leadership position or believe in rocking the boat, you can survive/cruise/pass your time for a while.....
Cons – Organization does not respect talented and hard-working employees, even if they have spent long careers at the company. A large number of young and middle aged talented employees have left the company in the past few years. Unless you are from Germany the ooprtunities for global leadership positions are extremely rare.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn from other leading global hi-tech companies - such as Apple, Microsoft or Intel
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

-Training in all aspects could be better, instead of cramming it all in one week

Pros – Good opportunities for growth if you have a good track record.
Compensation is satisfactory
Cons – No opportunity for advancement if you are not well liked
Most of the good jobs are given to GERMANS.
If you are not GERMAN, there is no opportunity to get top jobs or advancement for International jobs.
It is either German way or NO Way!
