    Pros

The building is very modern, state of the art equipment and computers.

    Cons

High turnover. The culture of this company believes their motto of “People First”, however that only applies to their customer not their employees. They don't really care about their employees. Coworkers are not friendly. Benefits package is okay, not great. Pay is low. Only 35 minute lunch and one 15 minute break. Company starts new employees with only 8 PTO’S and 8 holidays. If you get sick to early from the start date they will fire you in a heartbeat.

    Advice to Management

Adopt a culture of valuing employees. Don't be so quick to fire people. Get more organized.

    Pros

Great Coworkers. The company does offer a fairly comprehensive benefits package. Nice office space. Training opportunities.

    Cons

The culture of this company belies their motto of People First. They don't really care about their people and it shows in every action they make.

    Advice to Management

Adopt a culture of valuing people and it will pay off in droves with regards to your bottom line. Keep treating them like they don't make a difference, and they won't...

    Pros

Most of the employees are pleasant and friendly. The pay is average. The customer service department has opportunities to get a bonus for employee of the month award. The other departments are run better.

    Cons

Management runs customer service like a gestapo. It is micromanaged, and the manager is always watching to see if someone is talking about her (even in the ladies room hidden in a stall). If she finds out, she fires you. If you decide to leave the company and give 2 weeks notice, they will escort you right out without waiting 2 weeks. The turnover is horrendous! The employees are constantly having to train new people in addition to regular duties. Only 35 minute lunch and ONE 15 minute break(this was upgraded from 30 minute lunch and one 10 minute break!)

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. Be nice to all your employees, not just the ones you like. Don't be so quick to fire people. If the turnover wasn't so bad, the employees would be able to do their job instead of constantly training. CHANGE the customer service manager!

    Pros

People are friendly & willing to assist on projects. Many employees have been with the company for a long time, so there is a strong knowledge base.

    Cons

Not a lot of room to move up - open manager positions are rare

    Advice to Management

Be consistent with praise or punishment. Listen to employees. They have great ideas.

    Pros

Wonderful and thriving company, manageable territories. Promote from within.

    Cons

Could pay more. Not a lot of room for promotion because most managers stay forever!

    Pros

Work / life balance is emphasized giving employees that are happy, more productive and less stressed. People are valued for being honest and forthright.

    Cons

Difficult for new hires to learn who does what. There are less SOPs and written rules to use than in some non-Danish Companies so you have to navigate this.

    Pros

    Great work environment.
    Good staff benefits.
    No micro management.
People are very nice at Oticon and there are never any huge fights.

    Cons

People know Oticon as being innovative, however that was in the 90s. Today is a different story - lots of talking and no actions being taken.
Some of the higher management people do the talk but cannot walk the walk!
    Low salaries.
No pension - you pay 100% of that yourself.
Lots of budget cuts due to tough competition on the hearing aid market.
Managers let people work for themselves a little too much, which means that they don't have a clue about people sitting and doing nothing.
Some people do not have anything to do and are not proactive.
Managers are not very visible in the daily work.
No career opportunities within the company.
The company is stuck in an old traditional business model and does not seem to be able to get over the hump.

    Advice to Management

Be more strict and don't treat all employees the same way, because some employees need more attention to do their work, otherwise they will not be proactive at all.
    Get pension in the contract.
Be innovative and don't be afraid of creating new ways of doing business.
