Great place to work and receive service

    Scheduler for Surgery (Former Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

ProsGreat benefit package and work environment.

ConsVery busy so you have to be flexible and ready to fill in case of environmental disaster e.g. hurricane.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you have an ex employee who leave in good standard through no fault of their own e.g. to complete treatment for cancer. They should be given a chance to return to work and not be rejected.

    poor working conditions for RNs

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

ProsThe staff for the most part are very friendly and easy going.

ConsCompletely understaffed and heavy patient ratios especially considering the acuity of the patients. Low pay, not great benefits. Lazy ancillary staff that don't want to help, everything falls on the RN to do. Empty promises of hiring more staff. High turn over, I don't know how this place is considered magnet status. Constantly out of supplies and nutrition for the patients. The meal service is a nightmare the trays take a long time to come and patients get really agitated and some have had their blood sugar drop from waiting too long.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more RNs staff your units better, pay them better, hire better employees (ie. CNA and CSRs that are more capable with good work ethic)

    Great place to work

    Respiratory Theraist (Current Employee)

ProsSalaries and shift diff are comparable to other hospital. Set work schedule. The manager and supervisors does appears to be concerned with issues that staff have. You know your job is safe here because of inadequate staffing.

ConsThere is not enough staff to work as the hospital expand. Need to hire better quality new grads and weed out incompetent/lazy staff. Only reason they cannot get rid of incompetent people is because they can't afford to lose "anyone". Too many rules made up as the hospital is expanding, so communication is always an issue. The new expansion tower would have been better setup if the higher-ups took suggestions from each departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to hire more qualified personnel and not just anyone that walk through the door

    Low Pay; Always Understaffed

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)

ProsThe paycheck does get deposited to account. A good learning experience for a new RN. You get a lot of responsibility fast.

ConsLOW LOW pay for an RN. Not a nurse friendly hospital

Advice to Senior ManagementPay people what they deserve and they will stay around longer.

    great mission and people

    Family Physician (Current Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

ProsI love the feeling of being one big happy family pursuing the goal of healing. I look forward to the challenges and success that each day brings.

ConsWe tend to spend large sums on outside consulting firms. These firms seldom understand the day to day complexities of the medical field.

Advice to Senior ManagementUse more internal feed back from current employees. Promote the spiritual benefits of devoting your life to service in the health field.
