    Great job for a student.

    Head-Waiter (Former Employee) Trinity, FL

ProsThings are simple: you keep your tables happy and management is happy. Politics can be a bit much, but that's every restaurant.

ConsManagement is forced to follow corporate rules. They can be quite frustrating, such as you cannot have more than 3 tables at a time - ever. Makes it hard to make a real living with 3 tables. Management tends to overstaff because they are worried about complaints to corporate.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet stores have more independence in policies.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote from within, instead of hiring brand new servers that haven't served before, promote a good host or hostess

    Server

    Server (Former Employee) Charlottesville, VA

    ProsAlways Busy
    Discount perks are great
    Food is decent

ConsAlways busy (pro and a con)
The customer base isn't always great- you get some great people who can tip well, you also get the customers who really should stick to fast food (they tip poorly)
    Not always managed well
Will comp people's food over the stupidest reasons and doesn't always stick up for their servers (the customer is NOT always right)

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't comp someone's food unless the kitchen messed it up.
If the customer is giving a server/manager attitude, don't comp their entire bill- that just encourages them to continue being rude and expect free food. We don't want those people returning.

    I wouldn't recommend it.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt's better than working for less at Chili's.

ConsMoving up in management is a joke.
Also, the type of people this restaurant caters to is no longer acceptable. This restaurant is not "hip", or "modern" by all means. Words that would describe this place are more like: run-down, classic, aged, tired. In a few years, this restaurant will only exist due old people who have been coming here for years already.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need a big change, i.e. cultural renovation.

Good place to work part-time if you're in high school/college

    Hostess (Former Employee) Vestal, NY

ProsEasy job, short hours, easy to come back to if you leave for a while

ConsNot enough hours if you need to make more money, dealing with servers and fellow hostesses can become tiresome

Advice to Senior ManagementBe a little more picky when hiring people

    It was a wonderful experience.

    Server (Former Employee) Germantown, MD

ProsThe individuals that are in the workforce are energetic and excited to see all customers and co-workers

ConsThe largest issue comes from the after hours that have to be taken to separate tips and clean.

    Disappointing region.

Assistant Front of House Manager (Former Employee) Saint Louis, MO

ProsEasy to get some management experience. Good company values.

ConsManagement and proprietors in some regions lack in quality and don't take care of responsibilities to sanitation, employee relations, and other standards. This results in a overall breakdown in the restaurant. Huge difference in quality when you compare stores in Tampa (Corp) to other regions. Lowering of prices has brought in lower quality clientele. Used to be that Outback was a step above Applebee's. No longer!

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your managers more and hold them to higher standards. Raise menu prices if it means higher quality. Get your reputation back in regions where it has declined. Corporate should consider extended and unannounced visits to stores to find the real issues! Talk to the workers on the front lines to find the problems. Invest in recruiting hospitality professionals and graduates. Fire poor management.

All in all a good company to work for.

Food Server (Current Employee) Fort Worth, TX

ProsCompany as a whole has good values, the managing staff and proprietor that I worked with were amazing. Good amount of team building and fostering of relationships.

ConsNot much upward mobility, long hours, hard shifts, not much appreciation of hard work, and often times overlooking quality employees for others.

Made good money for a college student.

    Server (Former Employee) Edgewater, NJ

ProsThe people you work with are fun and pleasant. You may lose weight working here as a server, which is always a good thing.

ConsDuring the rush, it can get a bit hectic back of the house. The managers can get overwhelmed at times.
