    Pros

With good management, the workplace is friendly, and has great benefits, considering it's a minimum wage job. You get 50% off eating by yourself or with one other person, and generally 1/number of people in party% off at your location, and 25% off at any other location. Not a bad discount. I also never had any difficulty getting time off if I needed it.

    Cons

Depending on the management, it can be rough, sometimes. I worked in Temecula, California and the management was really good, very understanding and helpful; but they did tend to treat their new hires a little worse than I would have. They gave new hires EXCLUSIVELY late-night clean-up shifts with no breaks, and since nobody ever quit, nobody moved up. There was no relief for the "new guy". I then worked at the La Mesa location, which gave their new people a little more rest by mixing in mostly late shifts with a few more manageable ones, but the management was falling apart. The owner cared more about boosting his own ego than the success of the company, and rewarded brown-nosers before he rewarded truly dedicated workers.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees well, from the newest to the eldest, but care to reward talent and hard work before who you like.

    Pros

    Loved working with the co-wrorkers

    Cons

    Not very good clientele there

    Pros

Decent money and awesome peers to work with in you're in the right store. Depending on your location, the customers weren't as bad as others.

    Cons

The management sucked. They all hated their lives and were college dropouts/liberal arts graduates who decided to stay and make money because they probably knocked up some hostess turned server.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the competitions to sell particular items/up-sell alcohol. It's not as rewarding as you may think it is.

    Pros

Good people, fun atmosphere, and Outback is one of the best when it comes to service and training your employees that your restaurant is not "average"

    Cons

Unpredictable closing hours, pay isn't great and hours are luck of the draw, people are quick to get attitudes when things don't go their way (but i guess that is everywhere)

    Advice to Management

keep doing what you're doing, provide feedback directly when someone isn't performing well, and give praise where it's due to keep your employees happy

    Pros

They were not open for lunches during the week so you didn't have to work that many lunch shifts.

    Cons

The prices are really low therefore the bills are usually pretty low. You have to work harder and take a lot more tables to make a lot of money.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to make cuts correctly.

  7. It's a good job for college students.

    Pros

The price of the products makes it fairly easy to get higher tips. Like most restaurants you're selling your personality and the product to get a good tip.

    Cons

Management is new so it's kind of rocky when it comes to what the rules are. Tip out is around 4% which is a lot. They don't have an SA or set maintenance so when there is one you tip them out outside of the set 3%. The company is always changing products which tends to make customers mad. The whole "gluten free" thing makes some customers feel more special than it should so they expect everything to be gluten free and get mad when it isn't.

    Advice to Management

    Need more higher-level training.

    Pros

Decent place to work. Can take on as much or as little responsibility as you want, meaning you can advance or just be an average hourly.

    Cons

Upper management is not very honest with individuals. Lots of things are said and decided without your knowledge behind closed doors. They like to hire managers from outside the company more than rewarding their long time employees within the company.

    Advice to Management

    Promote from within.

  9. I've had a decent experience working with Outback. Not bad for a corporate chain.

Rude customers who don't know how to tip.

Bring back gratuity on big parties.
    More Saturday Night Snacks.
