I have been working at Oversee.net

    Pros

Company is in process of growing and is really an opportunity for each employee to shine. People are great and moving to a new and more open environment has really encouraged a positive and strong team building environment. Company is making an effort to try to engage all employees and motivate everyone to be the best that they can be!

    Cons

Industry/market conditions are tough so to be able to grow more is very challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on what is necessary and make informed and objective decisions to get the job done. Have to make sure all goals are communicated and then hold everyone accountable.

I have been working at Oversee.net full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Over the past several months Oversee has taken great strides to improve it's core businesses that include consumer finance and travel. Management empoyers all employees to have a voice and the has really forged everyone's commitment to working hard in seeing the roll-out of new products. It is a pleasure coming into work everyday to collaborate with smart and talented poeple, who also know how to have fun. The creative office environment is also a nice change from the cubicle centric offices I have worked at in the past. It's also nice that the company caters lunch every friday.

    Cons

Oversee's core businesses are in a challenging space.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep focusing on technology and the development of the young but talented tech team. Keep the lines of communication open, which will help foster a sense of ownership and responsibility.

    Pros

At Oversee.net your voice is heard. You have the opportunity to make suggestions and affect the business no matter what your role. There is flexibility as well as long as you are meeting your goals. There are opportunities to get to know everyone in the company through social events, formal and informal. They also have a great new space that feels more like a start-up again and still provide free parking in Downtown LA!

    Cons

Best fit for folks who like to take responsibility for their own discipline and are internally motivated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the communication!

    Pros

Free lunch Fridays, flexible office hours, there are a bunch of smart and fun people working there, downtown LA is pretty solid

    Cons

There is a serious problem in this organization and it starts at the top. Management is too busy worrying about keeping the board at bay with near term, short-sided solutions and will dismantle pieces of the business (selling business units, mass layoffs, changes to health and 401k, etc) at the drop of a hat to hit budgets and keep their jobs.

Multiple GMs have come and gone, many within months of starting and seeing what Oversee is all about. Additionally, lots of the GM positions have not been filled for over a year so there's no day-to-day leadership, accountability or organization within the business units.

Since there is no real leadership top down and within each business vertical, they are constantly juggling priorities and goals and those priorities change dramatically on a dime.

The turnover rate at this company is unbelievable. All ROI driven employees leave when they realize that no matter how good they are doing they are going to be lumped in with their vertical unit's performance, and since every single unit at Oversee has been free-falling the past several years, nobody gets their full bonus potential. Couple that with the fact that they never give people raises or title increases, and you get high turnover.

They pride themselves on being a technology company but that's their biggest weakness. They have antiquated business models on antiquated technology and are the slowest moving company from a development standpoint I have ever worked with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My message is to Oversee's board: replace all Senior Executives within the organization to have a shot at innovating and evolving to become relevant once again. Otherwise, keep on spinning your wheels to save what you have which has quickly dwindled down to nothing.

    Pros

The vast majority of co-workers were smart, kind and motivated. There was a nice mix of really experienced, long-serving colleagues, with less experienced, newer ones. Great downtown offices and location.

    Cons

Disparate, un-related business units that distracted executive management, who enabled poor, dysfunctional and opaque decision-making, and seemed more motivated to preserve their jobs than collaborate with hands-on employees to evolve a successful business model.

    Pros

free lunch fridays and a handful of smart, motivated people

    Cons

These leaders are truly terrible; CEO is confused; GMs are in over their head and don't know how to run businesses; the company has no intellectual property and does not invest in marketing tools to run operations properly. The company is being ripped apart to be sold or fold - do not join.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management doesn't listen or tell the truth to employees. Trust is earned through vision and leadership. The management at this company has neither.
