I worked at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College full-time for more than 5 years
Pros – Staff very helpful and good to work with. Although many people are over-worked they will always try to help you. Managers supportive of student disciplinary issues. Some money available for teaching resources. Ability to gain formal qualification whilst teaching for as little as 3 hours per week. Driven and passionate Principal.
Cons – Typical of FE. Many departments are over-stretched so staff do the job of 2-3 people. Managers spend a lot of time in meetings but insufficient time finding out what they can do to support front- line staff. If you are teaching a non-practical subject there is little acknowledgment of the lesson preparation and marking that you are required to do.
Advice to Senior Management – Spend more money on extra staff and less on meetings and away days for managers. Time given over to staff development is great, but insufficient time given to staff to prepare lessons and mark student work.

I have been working at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Opportunities exist for promotion from within. How long one stays there is down to their ability to conform to the senior management style.
Cons – Many staff have experienced intimidation and bullying from all management levels. As a result stress levels run high among many of the teaching staff.

I worked at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College
Pros – There are lots of opportunities for personal growth and development through extra training, i obtained lots of job satisfaction from watching the students grow in confidence and ability and then achieving their qualifications and had the opportunity to work with a highly motivated, dedicated and committed team of professionals.
there are excellent induction and appraisal systems in place which were of great benefit to me as a new employee.
Cons – there is not much opportunity for promotion and the management
Advice to Senior Management – Spend more time getting to know your team, then it would be easier to motivate them.
