Horrid place to work

Server (Former Employee)
Chino Hills, CA

I worked at P.F. Chang's part-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe people you work with are great and truly care about each other. You become a big family. It's a good place to work if you're in school since you'll work mostly nights, weekends, holidays.

ConsThe management doesn't care about anyone, except themselves and guests who complain. They play favorites and only promote people who they like. A lot of hard working people get passed up for opportunities simply because they don't suck up to management. In my particular store we often never got lunch breaks and NEVER got a paid break. We also had to eat in the backroom, which is where they kept cleaning chemicals, a dumpster and it was also filled with roaches

We were never busy and thus made very little money. Despite being such a slow place, we still had to stick around for 6-8 hours even if we had no guests coming in. We also had to claim our tips before we even knew how much we made. Managers often rushed us out after closing then got angry because nothing was clean.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop denying people promotions for absurd reasons and promote those who truly work hard. Don't force employees to stay on the clock when they haven't had a table in over an hour. Don't give employees so much crap when they call out or show up sick. Do all this and you wont constantly lose good people.

Great place to work if you know what you're doing.

Wok Cook (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at P.F. Chang's for more than a year

ProsHard working group of people. Good place to refine skills with technical measurements. Diversity with fellow employees makes for an outstanding work environment.

ConsManagers are too concerned about numbers at the end if the day and it creates a conflict of interest for new employees. Training is focused on learning on your own with a lot of telling you what you did wrong rather than what you did right.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more individual time with new employees in order to instill confidence within the team dynamic.

I had a great experience at serving at P.F. Chang's

PF Changs Server (Current Employee)
Las Vegas, NV

I have been working at P.F. Chang's full-time for more than a year

ProsThe lunch shift starts at 11 am and your usually off by 3:30 pm. I really like being busy and waiting on the customers. There is always something to do and I really liked the people I worked with. The shifts are short and you make about $50 to $60 per lunch shift plus hourly. It's better to work the night shift. It is way more stressful but you will make a lot more money.

ConsManagement really micro-managed everyone. Sometimes their criticism was unfounded and unfair. But there was a large range of very responsible employees and very irresponsible employees so some of it was necessary.
