Pros
Good and easy job for the salary paid. I would work again for this company now owned by symantec ltd
Cons
There should be more room for improvement for employees. Now the job has been outsourced to Manila and athens (European customer service)
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more your emplooyees. A bit greedy. they have decided to outsource the job even if there was no need for cost cuts.
Pros
Beers on Fridays was really nice. Plus my colleagues in Australia are super
Cons
Horribly incompetent management. Expectations were never set properly. Incompetent 'technical support' person who has delusions of his role, and is super prickley. Random firings. Senior management in Australia is out of touch with the US market and how to approach doing business.
Advice to Senior Management
Exit the US market. Hire competent management. Try again.
Pros
The ability to network with key contacts within the industry.
Reasonably flexible when it comes to work hours (work from home).
Staff are diverse.
Relaxed work wear.
Some benefits such as home Internet usage paid for.
Cons
Middle management have no idea how to manage/motivate or keep staff.
Petty office politics play a part.
Lots of closed door discussions.
Middle management tend to try and assert their authority.
Middle management get little support for innovation and initiatives from Senior Management.
Management are quick to blame but do not praise.
No training offered.
Sales people (and innovators) do not get appropriate reward or recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your staff! Middle management need to go - they have no idea how to deal in such a fast paced environment and industry.
Pros
PC Tools is a very dynamic and fast growing organisation, meaning you will get to work across all sorts of different projects that you normally wouldn't within an equivalent role in a different organisation. There is a very fun and laid back culture, and you will generally bond very well with your co-workers because of this liberal culture.
Cons
There is a serious lack of communication between departments as well as from senior management. There is what we call the mushroom effect, where one is kept in the dark and fed crap.
Advice to Senior Management
Open up the lines of communication vertically and horizontally, and stop being so secretive about everything!
