    Pros

good management Good Bonuses around Christmas time Good social events and team building days Good atmosphere between everyday staff and peers Skies the limit if you can sell

    Cons

hard to progress The company survives only because of its warrenty product and pressure to sell this is very high Management lack the ability to motivate their staff Talent / Innovation isn't appreciated nor encouraged Poor relationships between management and staff especially during tougher trading times of the year Company suffers from poor customer relations and can be almost an embarrassment to work for sometimes Good management are keen to leave or get headhunted to other firms (2 of my former managers got head hunted) Training just doesn't happen, ever.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on improving staff motivation and retention, there's a reason that your always losing your best staff. Provide better training particularly on newer products.

I have been working at PC World (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good management, great colleagues and a really good place to work. I meet really nice people on a daily basis, and I have a chance of helping people when they need it.

    Cons

Hard environment to enjoy as we have targets to meet.

    Advice to Management

Offer more than criticism and you will get more from your team.

I have been working at PC World part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

yes they go through all attachments that u might need in the future and ofcourse if you buy them, u do get discount and second best prices cant be beaten on prices

    Cons

staffs a bit too pushy i mean its not that if they emphasise a alot on a particular product but yea they do alot on there care plan yes it has its features but still at the end its an optional care plan

    Advice to Management

yes its not that every customer would buy insurance so stop rating or measuring your staff on such a harsh basis as the area managers put a massive amount of pressure on store managers to make there staff insurance on 40% on every sale or get kicked out!! not good policy

Its an easy job to get, its not really pressure selling like alot of people say it is, if your a good salesman it'll be a breeze

    Cons

sometimes the Managers don't know what they are talking about, but don't all managers?

    Advice to Management

Be realistic when setting targets and give as much praise as humanly possible, as that will make everyone feel valued

I have been working at PC World part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Seemed like honest emloyer, "We pay a flat wage without comission, Your performance will be measured by your ability to sell and making sure the customer gets the right product.." The training opportunities sound great. And they allowed me to show i could sell prouducts as part of the interview.

    Cons

Really not sure how honest they want me to be after all they obviously want me to make them money.

    Advice to Management

bonuses based on sales would help motivate staff without making them chase comission.

I have been working at PC World part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities within the company: competitions, training, etc. Very financially rewarding if targets are met and if you work bank holidays. Along with great team spirit within the sales team!

    Cons

Some targets are very trying - where the company says "tailor the solution to the customer" - if behind target this motto is completely abandoned and a sell anything to anyone approach is taken.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see more care for colleagues. Sales is a tough job at times, at the best times the rewards are great. At the worst times, give more incentives to want to continue!
