I have been working at PCM full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Vendor outings, benefits, cool co-workers

    Cons

compensation plan needs to upgraded to be competitive, very poor/outdated CRM and order processing tools they've been promising to upgrade for 4 years now which makes production very slow, outdated management style with lack of training and true leadership

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A new business strategy needs to be in place that includes upgrading technology that allows for better customer management and seamless order processing that will result in higher productivity and efficiency among account managers. Manager attend mandatory leadership courses that train how to be an effective and motivational leader among sales employees. Taking these steps will improve morale among employees and shoe that they actually care about employees.

I have been working at PCM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Substantial training from tier 1 IT manufacturers, solid base of IT industry knowledge, exposure to SMB/Enterprise IT solutions. SPIFFs extra $ from manufacturer partners Great location for the Chicago, IL office 300 S. Riverside Plaza

    Cons

Unorganized management, dichotomous work culture, high attrition rate, lack of integrity/business ethics for upper management, poor trickle-down hierarchical communication, poor compensation programs/initiatives,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement a more streamline CRM tool, initiate a more robust incentive program internally rather than relying on third party involvement (vendors), more energy and efforts towards career development programs, better training, introduce more resources for sales division.

I worked at PCM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only reason I don't regret working here completely is the sales experience I gained. You are thrown onto the phone and you either sink or swim. If you are self motivated and determined to win and understand everything about your customer and the products you sell, you can do well.

    Cons

No upward mobility. It's a stale, boring and at times mindless job. Management plays favorites when distributing accounts. Management is questionable in general. Everything is always changing and usually not for the better. High turnover. For being a technology company, the systems are archaic. An aura of shadiness permeates the air and the people that work here. You are competing with newegg, amazon and best buy which are always cheaper. This company has a bad reputation with the people you are trying to sell to. Directors and VPs only care about their own paychecks and stockholders. Unless you are extremely desperate, do not work here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring people if you can't afford to pay them a decent salary. Consider rethinking your business model.

I have been working at PCM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Outstanding training, and I would go so far as to say the best in the industry, PCM is transforming their business model, and most of these reviewers are push over sales reps. Sales requires tenacity and a hunter mentality. Yes, many of the old reps need to get booted out, as they don't promote the business, but PCM is very proactive right now in promoting their business strategy. Where this company excels is in the SMB market, as SHI and CDW target the huge megacorps... You get the opportunity to grow your business and be recognized if your an exceptional sales professional.

--Brand new building on the 8th floor, next to the river.
--Amazing training program, and knowledgeable IT professionals. "Product Champions."
--Outstanding Management team, who will go the extra mile to help you any time you need it.
1)Big companies don't care about coaching, they just care about numbers.
--Great team building events, and awesome Director and experienced Management Team.
--Expanding Business, and had the strongest first quarter ever.
--Boosting their infrastructure, soon will be hosting our own cloud for clients.
--Tons of opportunities to be VMWare certified, Cisco certified, and any other IT certifications you want,
--PCM will support you and take care of you if you are an exceptional sales member. Tired of these lackluster sales "drones" whining about PCM.
--Tons of team outings, and you get frequent Microsoft, Samsung, etc reps coming in and constant training...
        1) Plus, if you are exceptional, Microsoft reps, VMWare, Cisco, etc reps will take extra special care to do what needs to be done. They have Spiffs as well.

    Cons

--It's sales. You have to build your book to make money, but it is a competitive salary, and structured around how well you perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

--Keep up the good work. All new management in the past year, and PCM is really boosting their business model. I thoroughly enjoy the location, and truly like working for PCM. They genuinely care about your success. That's the benefit of working for a smaller office!

I worked at PCM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent Pay, Benefits and the new office in El Segundo is state of the art. Technology available to employees is cutting edge. Really great technical people to work with.Could be a really great competitor in the IT Services Industry.

    Cons

PCM as it is called now, ate 23 different companies and still has 23 different presidents. Divided into silos it spends too much time bouncing emails from silo to silo until the sale opportunity has expired. Still operates its sales force like it is a catalog company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of all the three letter silos and work as one company. Let your senior sales reps become field reps that concentrate on outside sales.

    Pros

Good high energy job for those people who know what it takes to make money. If you cannot pick up the phone and talk to people this is definitely not for you.

    Cons

Have to be self motivated. It was a sales job. One cannot be in sales and not expect to encounter rude people. You just have to be consistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax and Chill. Appreciate the employees
