STRESSFUL AND NO HELP FROM SUPERVISORS

Loan Processor Trainee (Former Employee)
Jacksonville, FL

I worked at PHH Mortgage full-time for less than a year

ProsThe people were great & its a shame they lose so many good ones due to mismanagement & poor training.

ConsVery POOR training & you receive no help once you get to the floor. If you have a question, there is no one to help and you are advised not to ask management. No one seems to have the right answer anyways. High Deductible insurance. No work life balance. Very high turnover due to STRESS since you do not get help.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide support for new hires once they hit the floor. Have Supervisors who are willing to help & are knowledgeable. Update your systems in the training room. Its hard to learn when you are sharing one computer and one phone & it is frustrating.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Understaffed in Servicing Dept and too little job training

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Mount Laurel, NJ

I have been working at PHH Mortgage full-time for more than 7 years

ProsMany hard working, friendly employees. Gym and cafeteria in each building. Ability to move to different departments to gain more experience and hopefully land job at other mortgage companies

ConsSalaried employees that work lots of expected overtime for free. Low pay in comparison with other nearby mortgage companies, Awful health insurance with 2K deductable! New employees given little training.

Advice to Senior ManagementStaff departments properly, put together a better plan for training new employees, ditch that healthcare plan. As the economy improves, employees will go elsewhere for better benefits and pay

It has been a great learning experience

MRC Representative (Current Employee)
Jacksonville, FL

I have been working at PHH Mortgage full-time for less than a year

ProsThe people there will help with anything you ask. The is not any micro managing. Everyone is treated like an adult.

ConsThe pay is not competitive to the industry. There is not pension plan. There is not a bonus structure for all departments.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good starting place

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Mount Laurel, NJ

I worked at PHH Mortgage

ProsLaid back environment, friendly people, decent work/life balance. When you do well, you're recognized. Camraderie in between departments.

ConsCan be tough to move around for some people; your supervisor doesn't really take your career vision into account, major decisions rely heavily on senior management influence and not what the employees want.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the employees more career advice, perhaps implement a rotational program for recent grads to get a solid understanding of the business and beef up the internship program in order to recruit more people early on.

Land of the unknown

Underwriter (Current Employee)
Jacksonville, FL

I have been working at PHH Mortgage

ProsA great place to gain experience in the mortgage industry if you don't have any. They will pretty much hire anyone and if you can prove yourself competent you can gain experience to further your career elsewhere.

ConsEverything is a secret. You never will get a straight answer to ANY question you ask, so it's not worth your time to ask. They never tell you exactly how you are performing unless you work in loan processing then you will get daily kudos.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would suggest they spend more time engaging employees and providing the necessary tools and support for employee development instead of looking at reports because people know how to get around reporting.

Challenging, rewarding and great people

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Mount Laurel, NJ

I have been working at PHH Mortgage

ProsThe team players have such a drive and passion for what they do. They take great pride in the work the deliver.

ConsOften times the answer given is - "that is just how we do it". Too afraid of change and do whatever is takes to get something done, even if it means manual work and overtime pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a group that thinks about how PHH can drive change. Automate systems and stop independent spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.

Lots of work not much support

Business Analyst - Contractor (Former Employee)
Mount Laurel, NJ

I worked at PHH Mortgage

ProsI really enjoyed the team I was working with and they do treat contractors like regular employees.

ConsNot much support once you start. VERY little training and some of the business oweners you work with don't play well with others.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you insist on hiring contractors in your IT department you need to consider a training program to acclimate them to your systems.
