I have been working at PLS Logistics Services

    Pros

Management is supportive, trade is quick and relatively simple to pick up, relaxed but professional work environment, fast paced problem solving and multi tasking, co workers are often team oriented and forgiving of minor mistakes, easy to excel if you dedicate your time. Benefits are strong, good 401; fast growing and positive company

    Cons

High turnover rate can demoralize and intimidate. Nature of job leads to avg 100+ mixed in and out calls per day starting, and if unorganized or those not with thick skin, easy to feel bullied by carriers

    Pros

    fun place
    good manager
office is really nice in Houston

    Cons

    People cuss way too much
    People look very unprofessional (some)
out of a training class of 20, 10 will be gone within the first month. Most by choice. The next 7 will be fired over the next few months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only hire people that are positive, confident, okay with hearing "No" a thousand times a day, and willing to work their tail off all day and after hours.

    Pros

2 week Industry Training is provided.
Management is available to help with issues that arise.
Lots of freedom to specialize in transportation that interest you.
Effort is directly proportional to success.
Strong job security for those who make it through the 1.5yr training. Lots of transfer options into other departments.
3 Months with a mentor is provided to learn the operations of the business. Support is available.

    Cons

it takes a LOT of effort to be successful and sometimes a little luck.
It's a sales job, you'll cold call businesses, get over it, it's not that hard.
The first year is extremely difficult to succeed on a standard 40hr work week schedule. The first year is 60-80hrs a week include outside work research and preparation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire less, but better individuals. Nurture those especially talented. It may even sound crazy, but somewhere in the training process, offer people a payment to quit right there - you'll save yourself money in the long run.

I worked at PLS Logistics Services full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

People you work with are in the same boat you are in.

    Cons

Where to start leadership is a joke.

The business model should not appeal to you if you are a decent person.

Extremely high turn over rate, poor quality leads, high volume of cold calling.

Top players stay there thanks to the efforts of others.

For recent college grads. 20 to 1 guy/girl ratio that should be a clue to the environment.

    Overall just a 6 month job !

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop allowing this to be a fraternity environment, get rid of these ridiculous sales goals, stop the high turnover rate. It goes on but Glassdoor wont let me put it on here.

    Pros

Starting pay of 38k as an entry level position
    Great People-younger environment(very laid back)
    Fun activities in the office

    Cons

Pull your hair out kind of work
After 3 months of training you enter into selling with a sink or swim mentality
Training doesnt prepare you for it whatsoever and favorites usually get handed the best clientele
Good luck being a girl in this market-they say it's pure luck but really its a logistics company and its a man's world
    Don't settle for this job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

-Good money for entry level college grad
    -Fun atmosphere
    -Young professional environment
-Office events (like pot luck lunches etc)
-Opportunity to make friends your age
    -Mid-size company
    -Good benefits
-Great fit if you are an aggressive, money-hungry, type A, super motivated, "I love sales" person.

    Cons

    -No job is safe here
    -Turn and burn
-If you are not in the "click" your opportunities and freedoms are reduced
-Company is not promoting management as quickly as they say
    -Immature work environment
    -College 2.0
-Training is not as good as they advertise
-If you are an introvert, you will not get the job, nor will you fit in or succeed
-Do not expect to make a career out of this job. When they hire you, your employment has a pre-determined expiration date.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The overall training for new employees needs to be addressed and implemented more. You are hiring recent college grads and are setting them up to fail without the necessary tools to be successful. One to two weeks of training is not enough. Your HR people also need more rigorous training. You are doing a disservice to these kids when you don't invest enough time in them to train them properly to keep them there longer by meeting and exceeding your expectations. You need to invest more in your employees to train and retain them across all departments in the satellite offices. Also,
