Current Employee – been working at PMC-Sierra full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – It would be hard to believe that there is a better company for college grads, especially ones interested in design work. If you show the ambition and capability, you get to work on very cool things at PMC. As an entry level product development engineer, I worked on design projects that I never had thought I could. My friends at Broadcom and Qualcomm are so envious of my work. Some asked me to help them get a job here.
Cons – We work very hard and long hours. Salary is good but could be better - one of my mentors tells me of extreme salary compression once you have worked here for many years.
Advice to Senior Management – I have worked here for almost 3 years. I noticed that our management is very conservative. They are afraid to take risks. Their bigger brother peers (Broadcom, Qualcomm, etc.) are heavily involved in consumer semiconductors. PMC chooses to stay away but I think our revenue suffers from this in a big way.
TAKE SOME CHANCES - we are really smart engineers!

Current Employee – been working at PMC-Sierra full-time for more than a year
Pros – The best part of working at PMC is that's pretty small, so far as EDA companies go. It's easy to get exposed and work in many different sides of the business. People are hard-working and also, generally, open to opportunities for improving workflows. A great place for learning and growth. Good compensation.
Cons – Very political (esp. across geographies), some ways of doing things are not up to industry standards, having to use a hodge-podge of EDA tools that don't fit well together

Current Employee – been working at PMC-Sierra
Pros – More responsibility is given based on ones interest, otherwise you were not considered. Basically if you are proactive then you are projected properly and lots of room to grow.
Cons – Not everyone can be proactive, if you are not you will not be given enough importance to grow. Which is very bad if one is not proactive. More driven by customers which should not be the criteria, rather have a strong product and attract the customers...
Advice to Senior Management – Please update standards of salaries as per the market.

Former Employee – worked at PMC-Sierra
Pros – Employment is stable, since their products are usually large contracts to other big companies. Work environment is not as competitive as other companies, everyone is friendly and mature. Managers are also understanding and lets you get t he work done. Not a lot of office politics, everyone is about getting a product out.
Cons – If you like a very competitive and high paying environment, then you should look for work in companies similar to Apple. The pay isn't as high as other companies because they are more relaxed.

Former Employee – worked at PMC-Sierra
Pros – PMC was not a good place to work in. Too much politics . Sr Management was pretty incompetent. Most of the good work was controlled by people in Burnaby
Cons – Too much politics
All the good work moved to Burnaby
Managers were bad at schedules.
Though smart engineers,good process etc
Advice to Senior Management – Don't concentrate all the work in Burnaby
Give competitive salaries
Middle managers need to be better at scheduling.
More foresight.
