Constypical tight development schedules, not a lot of projects to choose from, but ones that are approved get good support. products related to storage have good business prospects.

Enjoyed working for PMC and then shocked I was laid off.

    Product Development Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsProject teams were small and had a lot of interaction that allowed us to resolve issues quickly. You had time to decompress after going through scheduling crunch times. Office staff generally got along well and did a lot of social activities together.

ConsDidn't feel we were always told the full story on our group's program strategy. Maybe it was due to the changing market. Schedules were unrealistic without any contingencies.

ProsTechnically excellent people with engineering driven teams.
Experienced at VLSI development using experts across geographic locations.
Management is extremely technical having grown through from engineers.

ConsLong hours and condensed schedules. Same as the rest of the industry. Not much work/life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the great work. Get a good market foothold in Flash and build it out into a core technology.

An interesting place, but a project without direction

Firmware Engineer (Current Employee) Sunnyvale, CA

ProsPMC makes it extremely easy to connect with other employees at remote sites, and it really feels like working side by side, no matter where you are located
The engineer in the APPS groups are quite simply the best ones for that job

ConsPMC does not build on its strengths
The higher the manager position, the more disconnected from projects' reality
Perks, benefits and salary not competitive ithin the industry

Advice to Senior ManagementPMC is missing a real feedback channel to higher management
Not much sense in trying to hire more/better people if you can't keep the ones you already have
