I have been working at PNC Real Estate full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Co-workers are fantastic and the atmosphere is very collaborative. You are given a lot of responsibility very early on.--The bank is growing rapidly which allows for young people to quickly progress in their career.
    - Great young managers want to help you succeed
-Lots of different groups and PNC works hard to find one that works well with you
    - Top notch training programs

    Cons

-Very out dated technology (Just updated to Windows 7)
-Pay is definitely on the lower end of competitors (leads to high turnover)
    - Poor communication between different departments
    - As with any massive company, there are a lot of corporate zombies walking around
    - Potential to get stuck in one particular department

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you paid the market rate you would retain a lot more of your young talent. Try and stay more up to date on technology.

    Pros

    Family oriented. Excellent work-life balance.

    Cons

No a lot of mobility within the DC office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better understaiding of the market and how Pittsburgh salaries do not compete with the Washington DC market.

I worked at PNC Real Estate full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Air conditioner, lunch breaks, bathrooms, 401k.

    Cons

Turnover is high and that should be a red flag! Don't ignore it as you will regret it. Stuffy work environment. Most of the staff are females, that should be another red flag, gossip, gossip. Manager is non-existent. Lack of leadership at all levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell them they do a good job when praise is due.

Poor upper management made working here a chore.

I worked at PNC Real Estate full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits of working for such a large corporation were nice. There was good medical/vision/dental; and 401K contributions were well distributed. The building was a nice location in town with wonderful views of the river and skyline. Some of the staff were very polite and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Several cons, however, the main issue was with upper management being removed from some of the daily functions, prohibiting them from effective management. Also, several of the Sr. VPs were very moody, and difficult to work with. There were several employees in the office who 'steered clear' of a few who had a notorious reputation. At times, inappropriate language was used between team members, which made everyone very uncomfortable. Overall, I didn't realize how much I didn't like working there until I stopped working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more respectful of your employees. Tell them they do a good job when praise is due. There were several times I went above and beyond and nobody ever said thank you.
