    Pros

Benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, etc). Training and development depending on the department. Friendly coworkers in direct department.

    Cons

Salary depending on the department can be on the lower end. Good old boys club attitude. Typically family or friends are hired when they are not the best qualified. Due to recent corporate transition there is much uncertainty and employee movement.

    Advice to Management

Actually use employee satisfaction survey results. Hire the best qualified candidates. Evaluate promotions especially at management level. Improve overall diversity especially in senior leadership. Actually live by the corporate values.

I have been working at PPL full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Training is great. Great co-workers as well.

    Cons

Typical corporate issues Management has a lot of turnover and not a lot of hands-on knowledge. Decisions are made based on personal interest, which is not always a good thing. Many people seem to be scared of being fired for speaking their mind.

  7. Good pay & benefits but older culture of top down management

    I worked at PPL full-time

    Pros

Their pay & benefits are still good including their time-off policies. Large number of employees reaching retirement age so advancement opportunities should be on the rise.

    Cons

Management talks about valuing employees input but most don't walk the talk. Lots of changes going on and you never know when your job may be eliminated.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to employees on the front lines of areas you're making decisions about. It will improve the success of your decisions.

  8. Good working environment.

    Pros

Strong internship program, great pay and good people. Real projects with real implications.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at PPL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are great, do very well at taking care of people and working through various issues to get the work requirement done. while I cannot speak to the union workers, on the nonunion side the management tends to stay flexible with work schedule.

    Cons

The division I work in tends to react to issues rather than thinking about how to mitigate them in the first. IT and Operations have a lot of Red Tape between them, and the sense of urgency is often not there. Workers usually start as temps with no benefits for a year or more. After which the next move is to Specific Professional which is basically an internal temp, with bare basic benefits, medical, but no dental, very little vacation time, and no more over time but you're now expected to work a minimum of 45 hours.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay of your workers, we seem to keep losing people over it and the training of a new person takes months till their productivity really replaces someone. Lets focus on more work from home benefits and if IT cannot get something done in 7 months, lets start looking to replace them rather than making excuses.
