    I worked at PROS full-time

    Pros

Flex work hours, free snacks and other perks, smart and friendly colleagues.

    Cons

Lots of unqualified people playing manager roles, don't look to grow people, lack leadership skills, lack vision and focus. Career paths are unclear. Heavy politics. Tense environment around managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider reorganizing based on Meritocracy, and define clearly the career paths.

    Pros

    Good pay
    Free snacks and beverages
    Lots of company event
    Flexible hours, work from home

    Cons

Not very good at documenting their processes. This makes it difficult to train new people and follow through with improvements.
Teams don't communicate well. Many simply don't have a good grasp on where their responsibilities end and begin.
Don't like the work area, very noisy. No cubical, just desks facing one another separated by a low shelf.

I have been working at PROS full-time

    Pros

The people at PROS are amazing. Most are warm, engaging and super smart. PROS customers are genuinely excited about the software - it's such a great feeling to hear customers talk about how much your work has helped them, both personally and professionally. The work is challenging but exciting at the same time. PROS gives it employees lots of flexibility on their work schedule.

    Cons

Some team members are overly reactive (pendulum swinging, fad chasing), compensation is in-line with market not above it, with growth comes growing pains.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing, stay positive, be mindful of those that criticize who aren't so strong themselves.

I have been working at PROS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fantastic people, great environment. There is a tacit agreement that we are all in this together, and haven't seen any of the normal "blame game" situations you hear elsewhere.

Very smart people, it seems like recent hires (at least in my area) have focused greatly on taking the company culture to the next level of innovation.

I don't have enough experience to have a good reference on compensation, but I have no complaints about it. I believe health benefits are pretty normal, but not fantastic.

    Cons

Smaller company, so you don't get some of the big perks of a big company (daycare, PTO rolling over every year, other fringe benefits), but nothing that is not made up for by a great work environment.

I have been working at PROS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    +Excellent people
+Nice perks (free snacks, ice cream, etc)
    +Good location (Houston office)
    +Good products with satisfied customers
+Growth company that's doing very well financially
    +Excellent internship programs
    +Culture and values are great

    Cons

    -Extremely disorganized
-Senior management are very reactive and never follow through with a plan
    -Compensation not very competitive
-Little room to grow; still a small company at heart
    -Lack of communication between groups
    -Difficulty making decisions
-Internal politics becoming a big problem
-Expect employees to work long hours; poor work/life balance
    -Very high turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Delegate. If you want the company to grow at the rate that's being communicated to Wall Street, the same three people can't be making every single decision. The lack of trust senior management has in employees is detrimental to morale and hurting productivity.

Lot of talk and drum beating to attract investors, final results are a joke. Look at profit, revenue and P/E.

    Pros

Very rigiorous interview process for Developers (only).
New technologies being tested all the time.
Free drinks and chips and candies.

    Cons

Very few leaders. CEO has a good vision, but dictatorial. Has some close buddies whom he promoted soley to have total control over all departments.
Every other person is a VP or director. It is quite common to have a layer of 3 or 4 VPs reporting to each other.
Lot of glitter from the outside to attract good talent, who will like it for a while until they realize things are different.
Development Team is the strongest both in quality and politics.CEO was from that department so they take all decisions about the product and the product mangement team is basically a group of note takers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please share the wealth. Make each and every employee a part of the success not by praising and handing out end of year worthless gifts, but providing things that you and your favorite employees enjoy - bonus plans, and sell them stock options at the same price as you get them.
Think about the customer. Yes, think about the customer. Think about a product with having cool capabilities and not just cool technologies. Dont first build products and then expect customers to buy it just because you think it is a good product. There is a lot of domain knowledge specially in the airline side, use them.

I have been working at PROS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, average pay & benefits, travel.

    Cons

Very hard to grow, lack of direct support (technical/managerial), they expect you to be self-efficient from the beginning, which is difficult as often hire people with little technical backgrounds - but this is good for their contracts, if they hire people with technicalities who can crash through projects with less than estimated billable hours, their clients would complain for paying too much. In this sense working inefficiently is beneficial to them, as long as it can be controlled.

You need to find your own allies here and socialize with them on regular basis, it'd make life a lot easier. This place is not for everyone, especially if you are not from the greater Texas area, those who grew up locally and went to school in UT or UH tend to have better networking opportunities with senior employees, otherwise, be prepared to work 150% harder and do lots of ass-kissing, seriously.
