    Pros

The environment is dynamic! Loved my work colleagues, diversity and challenges. Human Resources employee affairs representatives did a great job creating employee activities and events to help us socialize and get to know your colleagues. Great job, Rose Nolan, Adrienne Collins and many more!!

    Cons

Advancement is difficult for someone who is too good at their present position. They are basically stuck while acquiring more duties from other positions to streamline the team. Those who are adequately fulfilling their roles seem to moved around or promoted into other opportunities quickly. This happens quite a bit in the IT arena.

    Advice to Management

Grow the team members who show the drive, enthusiasm and ability to do so. Quit making excuses to promote others just to keep them from not properly fulfilling the job requirements they were initially hired on for. Show initiative to grow those who are thriving in their arena. Help them spread their wings to learn more and take on new challenges in the fantastic PROS environment.

    Pros

    Has lots of potential
Snacks, parking, lots of catered events
Some sharp people but few are in positions of influence

    Cons

Lots of lip service to well being of employees
Lack of processes; those that exist may or may not be followed at CEO/CFO whim
    Slow to adopt change
For my position, management could not really define expectations
Too many VPs, Senior Directors, etc.
    Poor decision making
Lack of resources tends to put undue burden on few
    Not using best practices

    Advice to Management

Notice that management are few and those that are offered come from Talent Management (HR) who are undoubtedly biased so as to sell the organization.
My advice to senior leaders is to take a look at mid level managers via anonymous employee feedback, turnover history, etc.

    Pros

You get to work with a lot of intelligent people who are willing to do what it takes. Potential for growth, however only if you are in Houston.

    Cons

They are not accustomed to working with remote employees. If you're not there, you don't count. Management is on the fence as to what they are willing to sacrifice to take the next big step. The company is too small for the amount of politics.

    Advice to Management

Take action to grow the company, even if it hurts in the short term. If they make the right choice the company will be very successful.

    Pros

They make a lot of effort to make this a fun, collegial work environment. The host many employee events and several tech events. They are active in community outreach and allow employees to volunteer during work hours.

    Cons

They are stuck with older technologies and are slowed by so much process it takes an eternity to get simple features built and released.

    Pros

Get to work with a few good developers. Emphasis on writing clean and efficient code. Exposure to a lot of technologies. Get to work on interesting and challenging problems. One of the few core software development companies in Houston. Work experience and programming skills acquired at PROS look impressive on resume. Free soda, snacks and leftover lunch from client meetings.

    Cons

Bonus and salary increments are small. Benefits are average. Cannot cash out PTO balance when you leave. Typical office politics, managers play favorites. Developers (and wannabe managers) occasionally follow latest fad and start promoting new technology without giving thought to its implementation. High probability that you will get boxed in one role and go nowhere even after spending a decade there. Workload is heavy, company puts a lot of pressure on developers in the name of keeping major airline clients happy.

    Pros

It's a good place for new grads. As a new software developer, you will need to try your best to understand the system and the process. It's not that easy to pick up them.

    Cons

In my perspective, the guidance is not enough.

    Advice to Management

If I had the chance to be mentor, I would be more than happy to help new people more.

    Pros

Great place to get a start in software
If you got stock or options, you are happy
Airline group is a significant player in the industry

    Cons

    Poor salary / no stock
Does not look good on your resume
Extremely poor leadership. Get ready to walk into meetings unexpectedly and hear a VP yelling and screaming at you.
Trying hard to expand solution footprint to very limited success thus far.
    Everybody's a Director or VP.

    Advice to Management

Adopt 360-degree review of leadership all the way up to CEO.
