I worked at PSAV full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You will have the opportunity for some great hands on training if you are new to the AV world.

    Cons

The management was terrible. People were constantly treated unfair, and multiple people were fired after bringing up real problems within management.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like they're in the marines. Stop picking favorites when there are other people who can do the job just as good if not better.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Changing tasks. Never boring. every week holds something different. One day you can be setting up a tripod projector screen and the next running audio for a convention.

    Cons

due to the nature of the work, it is difficult to plan my personal schedule to far in advance. It is feast or famine on hours .

    Advice to Management

be more involved with the new employees and get them going in the right direction. Don't rely on others to train them. Or have a position that is responsible for training.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

OT when you want it most the time. Easy work half the time.

    Cons

Depending on property, can be highly stressful. Work can also suddenly slow down based upon varying business. That's AV though.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, but remember to always appreciate your subordinates. Keep the full-time guys working even when it's slow.

  7. Total destruction of hospitality av industry thanks to PSAV

I worked at PSAV full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's not bad if your fresh out of high school looking for a step up from baby sitting.

    Cons

Red tape, add steps to every process, impossible to get anything done, a full time job just keeping up with the constant bombardment of internal PSAV corporate emails. Culture makes it damn near impossible to take care of your clients. Gets worse every year with no end in sight

    Advice to Management

Stop restructuring and reducing your employees pay! Cut the fluff. Pay more for loyalty and performance, not less. Everything is negotiable. Stop trying to pigeon hole every property into a category or standard. Every property is a little different.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There can be a lot of room to learn and get your hands on gear. There's also many locations nationally so moving would be really convenient.

    Cons

You can get some good money but most likely hinder your personal life. You basically get out what you put in. Dealing with clients who don't know anything about AV can get really agitating. Also advancement can take a long time.

    Advice to Management

For employees who show initiative for advancement should be contacted more often and given more attention. Better communication between upper management and everyone could be greatly improved and would be beneficial for the company as a whole.

    I worked at PSAV full-time

    Pros

Good benefits package for full time.

    Cons

Pay is light. $16-&18/Hr. If you can live on that - you're very lucky. Much equipment is old, outdated and not fully functional. Work schedule varies between 24/hrs - 65/hrs per week.

    Advice to Management

If you advertise your company as an Industry Leader then keep up with the changing technology. HDMI is the new standard in video cable - VGA cable is like a flip phone (outdated). 50% of clients will arrive with Apple computers. Have an adequate stock of adaptors and provide training for techs who are not Apple familiar.

    Pros

Free food at the hotel and get to learn all the equipments at the property.

    Cons

It all depends on your Management. Very unorganized, stay away from the company. Do not recommend it

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with their workers and provide resources when needed

I worked at PSAV part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent starting wage. Plenty of hours. Good for beginning techs ( or people with no experience at all, driving or otherwise.)

    Cons

The most hostile management I've ever met. I've never been cussed at by a supervisor until this job. Work in the summer will make you question your decision to work there. The warehouse is on average 87 degrees in the summer. Senior warehouse technician may not like you and thus won't talk to you or help you. Many warehouse people will milk the clock and as a driver you may not even get a lunch.

    Advice to Management

A reasonable IQ would be a start. Management rubs each others backs and is invincible. Welcome to the Borg.
