I have been working at PTC full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I love the people I work with on a daily basis including my direct manager(s). I'm always being challenged and encouraged to develop my skills. You can transfer internally and many of the promotions come from within, so there are plenty of opportunities for growth. PTC has an excellent time-off policy and most managers are flexible in regards to your work schedule, if required. I believe that my compensation package is more than fair and I have always been taken care of at the right times.

    Cons

Our health care benefits get worse every couple of years. We pay much more "out of pocket" expenses now and receive less care. PTC should cut back on the nonessential costs taking money away from their employees and families. The extra costs add up, mostly when you don't receive a raise that year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I applaud Jim and team for their early vision and actions to become an IoT leader! They need to make sure all of the employees are behind this move or we will not be successful. This is a big year for PTC!

I have been working at PTC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot by working with some of the most intelligent people I know

    Cons

Management hasn't seemed to take a hint with the number of people that have left within the last year. The work-life balance has gone downhill significantly and merit raises were pushed back 6 months this year. People are doing more work for less pay. Multiple have been told by management that if they aren't happy they should leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to stop losing good employees, start recognizing hard work and dedication.

Current Intern - Administrative in Needham, MA

I have been working at PTC as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

The company offers good benefits and decent vacation/sick time. Depending on what department you are in it can be a great place to work. Mostly beneficial for anyone working directly with the software or sales reps.

    Cons

Working in an administrative position here isn't worth it. The pay is low for the work load you have to balance. Some managers are better than others. But many of them never acknowledge hard work and down play your responsibilities, making it difficult for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize hard work and praise people for it. Allow others to grow and not try to keep them in the same position for your own personal benefit.

Current Employee - Support Manager in Boston, MA

I have been working at PTC full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked way up from engineer to manager in support. Great chances for upper management exposure. Flexible work time and good company vision. Products are well established.

    Cons

Constant layoffs. Tech support unwilling to spend or invest. Poor pay adjustments. Director level full of fakes and gossip mongers who will stab you in the back or throw you under a bus if it gets them ahead. Whole departments laid off to meet quarterly numbers yet that won't stop director level and above jaunting off to southern France and Germany

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus. Invest in employees. Lead by example. Cut the rotten mid level management.
