I have been working at Pacific Cheese full-time for less than a year

    Pros

QA department has decent wages. Never short on work hours. Middle management tries to help you and is friendly. The relationship between QA and Production is healthy; production leads and supervisors work with you as QA, minimal bickering. Benefits are average, upper management is ok. More vacation time for the first year than retail or casinos. This company recently achieved SQF 3 (a higher standard of Safe, Quality Food so companies that require this certification will become interested in this company now. It is certainly growing.)

    Cons

If you don't want over-time, it is a bit hard to deal. Sometimes you have to put in either 6 days of 8.5-9 hours or 5 days of 10+ hours. Production associates have to start as temps who don't get paid very well and are expected to work heavy labor plus overtime. This causes high turnover for production associates in some areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I sometimes wish work-life balance was a little higher on priorities, but I know American Corporations can't conceive of doing this because it won't help the bottom line. This would include things such as more vacation time (although this company provides more vacation time at the first year than any retail/casino I've worked for, but still nowhere near our European counterparts) and less overtime with a little more pay.

I worked at Pacific Cheese as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

From my experience, I was able to move up very quickly. Some nice people.

    Cons

I heard a lot of complaints. Compensation was very low for responsibilities. People in certain positions were not able to perform their jobs satisfactorily. How do they manage to keep their position? Lots of politics. Lots of inefficiency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to do something about people that cannot perform their duties.

I worked at Pacific Cheese full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Established company, Pro active in thinking, established SOP, long term employees. The company is very good at having meetings to discuss better ways to improve things, however if the outcome from the meetings is to spend money, forget it. This includes hiring, radios, updating on equipment.

    Cons

Lack of Leadership, Stuck in the Mud, lack of action, Politics, Too many changes, non functioning operating system, too many meetings leading to little action. The company is full of clicks that are departmental groups that create bottlenecks and lack of action, Too much of playing the blame game, Instead of supporting their managers the employees have a fast track to the HR Office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better education on direction, planning and communication. Less politics

I have been working at Pacific Cheese full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get free cheese every tuesday and friday.
You get to play with a long wet hose all night.

    Cons

    Where to begin.
    1. Don't ask where the cheeses comes from.
    2. Smells horrible
    3. management did not speak much english
    4. management were morons
    5. pay was very bad for what you do.
    6. sucks if your lactose and tolerant

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should pay your employees more. Giving free cheeses does not count has a bonus.
Hire more qualify people to run your warehouses. Stop using temps for work hire people.
The upper management should wash the machine to see what the job is like. Treat your employees with respect.
I have to give this company a star so thats the only reason why they got a star.
