I worked at Pacific Sunwear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good music, chill dress code, flexible hours, and merchanising freedom (as long as L1's and L2's support).

    Cons

Payroll does not allow required tasks to be completed, selling vs. tasking balance is unrealistic, and corporate is often aloof or unavailable.

    Advice to Management

Get a better payroll matrix, or send less tasks in the Pipeline. There is simply no way to achieve desired tasks with time allowed and help customers.

I worked at Pacific Sunwear part-time

    Pros

You Learn customer service and are able to make the store money with positive attributes that you bring to the team.

    Cons

Tasks may be difficult and or challenging. Rude customers are out there but all you can do is smile and be patient.

    Advice to Management

I was only a seasonal work but made several sales and was told that I was amazing help. Maybe keep the people that do good and are there to help the business as well as themselves.

    Pros

Cool edgy vibe, alot of room to express your personality, lenient dress code, good music, cool corporate offices

    Cons

Never enough payroll to sell AND task. You have barely enough to monitor the sales floor and sell, but with anywhere from 1-30 cases of freight showing up at any time, and loss prevention breathing down the neck of employees who have done nothing wrong, it's a nerve racking environment. Task deadlines are unrealistic, and store is sku heavy so operations are a nightmare. Certain districts are very male centric (read; old boys club), and there is alot of gossip.

    Advice to Management

Stop running your stores like an old navy without resources. It's not ok to cut payroll and take advantage of exempt managers to make up the difference. Focus on better work life balance for your store teams.

    Cons

Sometimes work late hours to close and complete projects Floorsets and other projects take up a lot of the time during main selling season

I worked at Pacific Sunwear full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You'll become a retail super hero because in one day you'll have to do transfers, MDS, shipment, a window change, and a launch in the AM, and making LY and incentive..all while on one part coverage with brief overlap for two hours.

    Cons

You learn a lot on your own, only 20 training hours for managers, hopefully you have a boss that knows their way around and can show you the ropes or youre pretty much on your own. one part coverage all the time, payroll is so tight.

    Advice to Management

really no room to grow, theyve eliminated the keyholder position so internal growth is nearly impossible. After SMs its DMs but they rarely hire from within.
