I worked at Pacifica Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pacifica Hotels is a superb company. I appreciated their continuous improvement of the property and the monthly and quarterly meetings they held to ensure we were on track with our goals. They assisted with new ideas and made you feel like you were working with a happy family.

    Cons

The front office and back office systems should be able to interface. Computer systems that interface free up time for the ever important sales calls for new business and servicing of existing clients.

    Advice to Management

Jack Hu and his team are superb hoteliers. One can learn on the go with the fantastic Executive Committee members.

    Pros

Great Guest Service Training provided. Family run but professional casual modern look. Little things, that are still FREE IN-ROOM for guests, ALWAYS great making them feel happy and not ripped off if location is already in prime setting. Cleanliness and attention to detail is superb !!!

    Cons

Too many things FD people need to do compromising full attention to guest arriving or departing. Dated computer systems - but seem to work better than newer high-tech confusing flou flous. Listen to your guest service agents more !!! - They see it all, hear it all, deal with it all, know a lot ! Be more open to improvement and listen to your people !!! They wanne help you be better, more efficient and contribute to your very essential successes.

    Advice to Management

Pay the "Little Guy" more who is - THE First FACE - your guests see and encounter !!! Pacifica Hotels provides awesome guest service training . If they could only realize more money and way more incentives for your *INCREDIBLE* guest service agents, then they will KEEP THESE GOLDEN PEOPLE around longer and make your regular and corporate return travelers "Feel even more at home" with the same faces who become FAMILY in a sense and keep on providing a *safe home* away from home for all guests ! --- RETURN BUSINESS GUARANTEED ...even more with good people sticking around.

I worked at Pacifica Hotels part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great management and awesome benefits, including paid vacation time. Very generous with pay as long as you are a good employee! I have worked in hotels for 4 years and Pacifica was the best employer by a long shot. So my advice is work hard and you will be rewarded.

    Cons

They are a fairly large company so you rarely see upper management. But they have a GREAT human resource department.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to grow at Pacifica. I started out as a line level team member and worked my way up to a leadership position. Beautiful hotels in amazing locations!

    Cons

I honestly can't think of anything.

    Pros

Co-Workers on Non-Management staff were cool.

    Cons

Cheap Unprofessional Management Obsessed with Trip Advisor reviews and will believe NEGATIVE reviews before they ever believe you! Lack Of Training GM and AGM were a JOKE!!!! JOKE!!!!

    Advice to Management

Become professional, AND LEARN AND PERFORM YOUR OWN DAMN JOB BEFORE TRYING TO TELL OTHER STAFF MEMBERS ABOUT DOING THEIRS!!!!! Another words; GET A CLUE!!!!

I worked at Pacifica Hotels full-time

    Pros

Probably the discount to stay in hotels as employee

    Cons

Hire people with experiences and it's up to the head of dpt to work it out. The gm where I was and still is complete panic when the hotel is close to reach full capacity. Never seen that on a gm. Favoritism is a big key. Even an entire team complaining about the management doesn't do anything, if you say yes to everything and say nothing when you get beat down over and over you'll be as miserable as you'll ever be. Regional, corporate don't care about you.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic and be fair. If your best employees leave or 2 executive left in less than 3 month, it's time to open your eyes! How come in of your other properties everyone is happy and not this one...mmh

I worked at Pacifica Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The upside (renovating older hotels), the experience of having a management title, flexible schedule, Ongoing leadership training company-wide

    Cons

Poor, antiquated computer systems, Lack of training, Improper use of texting as a means of communication with employees, Lack of marketing of property, No security on property--unsafe, unfair business practices in handling employee relations

    Advice to Management

Renovate all your properties, and upgrade your computer systems, and hire reliable managers that will be supportive of their employees.

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Flexible scheduling allowed me to work and attend school full time. Great people to work with and grow professionally. Great opportunities for advancement if you are willing to relocate.

    Cons

Benefits are less than adequate for non management employees. There is a disconnect between corporate and hotel property management which is felt in the daily operations of the hotel.

    Advice to Management

Bring back quality benefits for all employees. These people are loyal and willing to go the extra mile as hospitality team members. Make a change in company culture to decrease the tensions between property management teams and corporate.

I worked at Pacifica Hotels part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent caring management team in my area. They are fighting a corporate penny-pincher (Pacifica) to do the right thing by residents who are essentially helpless (they have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia).

    Cons

Horrific pay for caregivers, raises are 2% for all, regardless of performance, they eliminated shift differential, they found a way to cut back on earned vacation and sick leave hours.

    Advice to Management

Caregivers matter. Quit treating them like disposable wipes. For the record, I was office staff, not a caregiver. How they are treated is heartbreaking, considering how much money people pay to house their loved ones. The place is a revolving door because of poor pay and benefits and overall treatment.

    Pros

About the only perk is the that the properties are nice and you can use them at a discounted rate sometimes--in the slow seasons. There are few perks with this company. They run very lean.

    Cons

This is a hotel management group, so the corporate office staff doesn't even know the majority of their own employees. They have no real regard for their bread and butter employees such as housekeeping, front desk clerks and assistant managers. The corporate officers in Santa Barbara are close knit, but are back biting toward the managers of each of their properties.

    Advice to Management

Get some morals and compassion. It is very clear that you have no value for your employees.
