I worked at Paciolan full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are awesome and the leadership really cares about the employees. There was such a passion for the customer engrained within the culture, it just radiated throughout the organization.

    Cons

A lot of long-tenured employees got choice jobs while other more qualified individuals were overlooked. Some personalities in upper management were tough to deal with and if you didn't get along with them, it was a road-block to your advancement - regardless of how great you were in every other aspect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at Paciolan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - If you're interested in the sports industry and technology, this is a fantastic place to work. Not everyone is passionate about sports, but many are and it shows in the culture and the related workplace events
    - Lots of opportunities to move around internally
    - Laid back office culture, many managers are from the "just get your work done on time" mentality as opposed to micromanagers/bean counters
    - Extremely passionate client base and employees - many, many employees have been at the company for 10+ years.
    - Solid on-boarding/training programs, which continue to improve

    Cons

    - Oftentimes felt like a sales company with software tacked on as the afterthought. Lots of development effort is wasted on projects designed to land a single customer or to keep a griping customer happy. Squeaky wheel clients received far too much grease and drove too much of the development priority process, which resulted in projects that required huge time/resource investments but ended up being used by a tiny % of the client base.
    - For the geographic location and job, salary was consistently below-market. Companies doing similar work in the same general geographic area were/are paying at least 20% more in several of the roles I held while at Paciolan.
    - Some upper management personalities appear to have been entrenched in their roles for too long and are difficult to reason with
    - Sale of the company to Comcast-Spectacor seems to have the company trending in a negative direction - it felt like we were getting ground down and that a lot of what made working at Paciolan appealing was slowly disappearing. The "this is great that we've been sold to Comcast!" thing is really getting shoved down people's throats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Perform a robust analysis of employee/industry compensation to see if Paciolan is competitive across all job functions.
    - Remember that it is a software company first and without a product there is no sales apparatus. Stop letting individual whiny clients dictate so much of the development agenda.

Excellent friendly HR team, company lunch, ice cream, social activity, benefits

    Cons

Multiple tasks assigned at the same time by multiple managers, poor management !
Architecture changed every year for what reasons? incur cost and burn out developers,
Someone has stated software relied heavily on legacy system although Java started years ago,
    Developers involved in QA testing,
Waterfall and micromanagement, many docs produced and incur cost

I have been working at Paciolan full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Strong, capable yet approachable upper management. Great CEO and CFO! Very professionally run, stable and profitable company. Employee satisfaction and pride in the company is greater than in any company I've ever worked. It really feels like a family here.

There are great perks like subsidized exercise and yoga classes offered weekly in the office. They feed us lunch every few weeks, such as bringing in the In-n-Out truck. Great training and education reimbursement opportunities.

The company actively analyses itself to identify and address any issues. There are focus groups who are always looking to improve things, like collaboration across departments, as well as groups to make office environment fun and keep employees happy. As a result this company has the lowest turnover I've ever experienced and employees work here for many years, including some who have been here over 25 years.

    Cons

Since the company is about 35 years old there are legacy software systems as well as antiquated processes (documentation heavy waterfall product development) however all are being addressed at the moment and should be fully replaced with cutting edge technologies as well as process (agile scrum) in the next few years.

Departments are segregated and don't communicate or collaborate well with each other, however that issue is being addressed as well.

Being a software product company, the development work can at time be a little boring and rudimentary, however bleeding-edge technologies are being leveraged.

Pay is good but could use more vacation time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! Maybe give new hires more vacation time.

    Pros

Great work life balance. Supervisers are reasonable and helpful. Excellent atmoshpere.

Not a great training program. A lot of the terminology they use is unfamiliar to those not in the ticketing business previously, so at times things can seem overly complex.
