Pros

Packeteer was a company that excelled with work/life balance. The job always got done, but there was flexibility in terms of when and where that work was accomplished.

Cons

The company did not have it's act together in terms of acquisitions -- they continued to be run almost as separate organizations with too many different products, technologies and approaches that should have been harmonized.

Advice to Senior Management

It's all in hindsight, but please try to avoid having things get back enough that we're acquired. (Packeteer was acquired by Blue Coat in June 2008.)
