I have been working at PageGroup full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Firstly the people - 99% of the office are friendly, personable and make people feel welcome. They create the right environment for people to succeed.
Meritocracy - If you perform, it will get notice both financially and promotions will be given. You can progress your career very quickly.
Rewards - For people who perform very well in a quarter, an overnight trip is offered and people who excel throughout the year get a long weekend away to places such as Rio or the Bahamas. It is something that not a lot of companies offer to everyone.
Excellent opportunity to transfer to international offices throughout the world.

    Cons

A recurring theme not just for Michael Page but all recruitment agencies is the long hours, however the role is a sales based job so you get out what you put in. Sometimes the hours worked at Michael Page are excessive and people hang around even if they have nothing to do for fear of being called out as they are leaving "early".
The bonus structure is not the clearest or well defined.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at working more efficiently or smarter so that people can have a better work life balance. Attempt to try and change what is called a "normal" day which should aid the work life balance.

    Pros

If you put in the work the rewards will come
Great culture and camaraderie in the office
Managers and Directors care about your success
Great training program (constantly being updated and improved)
    Compensation and incentives are great

The opportunity at Michael Page is endless. The company is a true meritocracy that rewards those who perform and take advantage of the resources provided to them. The atmosphere and culture are very high energy and fun. Management puts the time in to train and guide consultants. If you're willing to be persistent and determined to succeed, Michael Page will allow you to grow your career.

    Cons

The hours are long, which is expected in any sales job - easy to get used to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to train and challenge employees. Keep the office culture positive and competitive.

    Pros

    Excellent sales training
    Excellent team environment
    Excellent company culture
Taught what it means to "reap what you sow"
    Zero limitation on success

    Cons

    Fast paced
Work hard, but play hard mentality isn't for everyone. Long hours needed because you literally have so much to do.

I have been working at PageGroup full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice base salary and compensation package. Fun and young people to work with depending on the team you sit on. Great sales training and easy to fast-track your career. If you want to devote your life to a job, you'll do well here.

    Cons

Your manager/director make your experience here. There is little to no guidance from upper level management and often times people who are relatively new to the business are in a managerial role. Some are fit to be managers but MP pushes employees to be managers even if that's not what they want. Unproffessional work environment-- very young and cliquey. Hours are 8-7 but you are expected to put in extra time. It's not unusual to come in on weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take more time to manage your teams and less time to focus on your own careers. Make yourself approachable and available.

I have been working at PageGroup full-time

    Pros

Good base salary and quarterly bonus
Excellent benefits such as 25 days vacation plus half days before holiday weekends
Clear career path based on meritocracy - work hard, hit your targets you move up. Don't hit your targets - your manager will help you get there
    Integrity
Large international stable firm with a great brand name
Fun place to work - the people there are so much fun and really make work easier. They are good people, hard working, proud, ambitious and smart.
Work with great top tier clients
    Opportunity to work internationally
Multicultural diversified work force. You met a lot of interesting people there

    Cons

It is hard work!! Not for the faint hearted
You work super hard, the hours can be long but if you are doing well there is flexibility. If you are busy and have meetings through out the day then the time will fly by.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and keep training your people- push them outside their comfort zone.

    Pros

Chance to grow, everyone is built from within, good culture, young and vibrant. There are opportunities to grow for those who shine. The straining structure is very well established, and the office is bustling with people from all different backgrounds and countries.

    Cons

the hours are long but they are pretty clear about that up front in the initial stages of the interview process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

work life balance could be better, but it is an enjoyable place to work and I like it.

I worked at PageGroup full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Co-workers are young and fun.
Real estate is usually in a fancy location.
    20 vacation days (European company)

    Cons

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had.
The company hires young, hungry kids and trains them to become pushy and aggressive sales people. Quantity is much more important than quality (which is basically inexistent!). There is no candidate care whatsoever. It’s all about volume, volume volume. They will squeeze their employees and their clients for every nickel they can get.
The most aggressive kids are promoted to become the company’s management. Therefore, in most cases, they lack basic leadership skills in all levels. There is an unhealthy competition in the company.
Management frowns upon you if you go out for lunch. You are expected to eat at your desk everyday while you work.
There are many “informal” romantic relationships going on in the company among folks from all levels. It’s embarrassing.
Turnover is immense. People simply “get the hell” out of there as soon as they realize how the place works and how it is run.
They pay very little promising you big bonuses which are hard to get.
I stayed for over a year and was actually doing well there. Decided to leave due to the leadership and the culture.
    Benefits are terrible.
The market is alredy noticing the lack of quality and the aggressive approach this company is taking and this is hindering their reputation. Michael Page is already strugglling in the marketplace and will continue to do so due to poor leadership.

I worked at PageGroup full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Free bagels every Monday morning, extensive training program that teaches you a lot about the recruiting space, and how Michael Page fits within it.

    Cons

Very long hours you are expected to be there from 7:30-7:30 everyday. Your manager will sit on top of you and yell at you to get on the phone. Rudimentary key performance indicators are used to judge you at every step. This place also has incredibly high turnover, you will be told about career growth even though many people quit within a short time of being at MPI.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Join the 21st century, the technology in the office is incredibly old. The environment is extremely controlling, allow your employees to grow and become successful recruiters instead of micromanaging every second.

    Pros

Great training and coaching from day one.
A lot of room for personal growth within organization based on performance, not office politics.
Healthy base salary + bonus structure.
    Great vacation/benefits package.
    Fun people to work with.
If you are willing to put in the work and show value, the company will take care of you.

    Cons

11 hour work days, but they are very transparent about that from day one. Limits work/life balance.
