    Cons

No perks, adjunct salary is not comparable, work-life balance, no benefits, no guarantee of employment from semester to semester.

I have been working at Palm Beach State College full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Look forward to spring break and Christmas breaks.

    Cons

Management moves staff around or harrasses them in order to push them out of department or to leave college.
Management supports management, but not employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave quality employees alone that are responsible and have an excellent work ethic and track record/ history. Keep an ear open to employee feedback from within the entire college to improve both personal and departmental management skills.

    Pros

Learned math, love the people to work with, felt like not a job but just continuing school.

    Cons

No money ,and rarely have full time positions opened for people, very clicky crowd, no benifits unless full time.. Other places tutores make like 25-30 an hour there is 10.00, what would you chose?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Positions rarely open up.

The environment was always positive. Deadlines were normally met on time unless budgets pushed projects back.

I worked at Palm Beach State College

    Pros

Great job experience, looks great on a resume, and you can use your projects that you worked on there for your portfolio.

    Cons

The woman I was working for did not communicate projects well. Normally would say a project needed A and B elements but while in the final stages of working on said project she would say not to forget C and D elementd as well.

I have been working at Palm Beach State College part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great place to work. Nice coworkers, students are pleasant and respectful. Support staff very helpful especially for new hires. Great work environment for the up and coming professor.

    Cons

Hard to get a full time or even an adjunct position. May have to pick-up additional classes elsewhere to make ends meet. New hires have to jump through some hoops initially. Need to make more of an effort to make sure students are prepared (i.e. have certain prerequisites) for higher level classes. Too many student just clueless in class because they do not have the proper background.

I have been working at Palm Beach State College full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Affordable health care and generous holiday time. The majority of the staff and faculty are genuine and care about student success.

    Cons

Apathy or resistance towards teamwork across departments. Many employees seem to be waiting out for retirement. There have been significant benefits cuts for existing and new employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication and project planning. Reward community involvement for staff.

I worked at Palm Beach State College part-time

    Pros

Great coworkers. Good culture. Good communication. You work the same schedule as the students' academic calendar, which is nice because you get a lot of time off around the holidays. This type of schedule provides wonderful work/life balance.

    Cons

Pay was low. Not very many opportunities for advancement, unless you transferred departments or switched campuses. The HR hiring process moved at a snail's pace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider implementing career mapping - i.e., clearly defined career paths for employees.
