    Pros

You can develop some useful skills depending on the department you work for.

    Cons

    - No room for advancement

    - Company going downhill and the higher ups have no idea how to turn it around.

    Pros

Took the job in a former field of study because I just needed a job. So, the pros are... they gave me a job. The people I worked with were nice and willing to help me when I needed it.

    Cons

The interior workplace was horrendous. The cubicles were from the 70's and it looked as though they hadn't updated anything in quite a while. Call me crazy, but I want to work somewhere that invests in their image and tries to give a good impression. It was depressing going there everyday.

    Advice to Management

Invest a little in improving the environment that your employees spend a third of their lives in.

    Pros

Depending on the department you work in, people take their job very seriously. Some of the work is even rewarding. And if you can get on your manager's good side, you may even get a small raise (when raises are given). The dress code is very casual in most areas and and less than business casual in others. Dressing as if you were going to a night club or gym seems to be OK too.

    Cons

The company seems to always be running in crisis mode. There are too many manual procedures that lead to mistakes that happen all too often. In most areas there isn't the right or enough people to get the job done right. The right management is not in place to take this company into the 21st century (yes, they haven't made it there yet). With the current management in place, they will surely keep sinking and continue with the layoffs.

    Advice to Management

You are the problem. Take a good look at what the company is and where it needs to go and get the right people in place to make this company thrive again. You have spent too many years letting this company go down the drain.

    Pros

Good work/life balance and the ability, where possible, to work from home. Most of the jobs are very easy so if you don't mind not being challenged, this place is for you.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement and the company has not handled change well. The change from print to digital has been very slow, not keeping up with demand. Too many clients are leaving for companies that have better web offerings.

    Advice to Management

Outsource, outsource, outsource. The web order processing is not working with the current staff and you have tried too long to get the right staff with no luck. You need to look elsewhere.

    Pros

I cannot think of 1 specific positive about this company. It was poorly managed, lead by junior programmers.

    Cons

Lead by junior programmers with big egos who thought they knew everything. They had us create unit test documents for QA, only for QA to tell us they used their own.

    Advice to Management

shut the doors. stop the bleeding.

    Pros

They have a good severance package.

    Cons

In 10 years, I've never received a raise equivalent to the cost of living increase for that year. Bosses are put in place and supported to be bossy rather than supervisoral.

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Fair Pay
    Allows you to grow
New and exciting innovation for the industry

    Cons

Not enough attention paid to employees and their ideas
Showing initiative and drive to succeed is frowned on
    Bad Morale with management decisions
    Fear of management
Legacy employees are being let go or leaving on their own and tribal knowledge is fading and hurting business

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to your employees and clients. Not consultants.
