Arrogance will bringthe company down

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Tinley Park, IL

I worked at Panduit full-time for more than a year

ProsDecent pay, hours were not bad

ConsThe single most arrogant company culture I have ever encountered.

Advice to Senior ManagementSell. Get out while the name has value.

I worked for Panduit for 24 years and 10 months, but the final three years were not much fun

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Panduit

ProsGreat company with a tremendous leader who passed away this past year. Very loyal for the first 20 years of my career there. Amazing vision and real people to work for and with.

ConsIn the 2005 period and therafter the company lost their long time focus and the leaders at that time were only in it for themselves. Qualtiy levels decreased and accountablity was no longer visiible.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to the way "Jack" ran the company in the 70's 80's and 90's. you'll see a dramatic difference right away. It's OK to make a mistake.

Old people

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Panduit

ProsGood pay, and the facilities are quite close to chicago. Flex time is always nice. Everyone is very nice.

ConsThe workforce is older, and there is not a very fun culture. Also the intern program is not structured in the best way.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdd more structure or more of a plan to the intern process.

The ship is sinking fast

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Lockport, IL

I have been working at Panduit full-time for more than 10 years

ProsWell at this point it is a paycheck. Most of the people are good people. A couple of the supervisors are good guys and actually care about us.

ConsFor a company with sales in the upper HUNDREDS of MILLIONS you would think they'd have good news without the "but" statement once in a while. "everything is going ok, we are investing millions here and millions there" BUT "we need more out of you production people. Run multiple lines. Do more with less." "Oh and by the way things are tight now here's your .8% raise" REALLY stop calling yourself world class when you act like "DOLLAR GENERAL"

Advice to Senior Managementwouldn't waste my time

Corporate Management is Ruining a Once Great Company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Panduit full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGood benefits, clean work environment, friendly co-workers

ConsWay too many layers of management!!! No respect for hard working long term employees. Corporate management treats employees as a "number on their books" and base personnel decisions on $$$. No career advancement unless you are in with the right "clique"

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your good employees with respect! Managers need to learn people management and communication skills!

OK, but Managers have too much power/control over employees

Business Development Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Panduit full-time

ProsPretty good work/life balance-- stable for the most part if you work hard, and dont ruffle feathers...

ConsNeed to shake things up at the top--- think their empowering creativity/technology but its very controlled-- most upper managers are super political as they have been raised that way at Panduit.
and the micro-management -- its so hierarchical its not motivational at all..
The control factor limits creativity and empowerment--

Advice to Senior ManagementNONE

Underutilized and bored

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Panduit full-time for more than a year

ProsPrivate company
Owns manufacturing
They invest in training
Lots of long term employees

ConsStagnant in new products
Resistant to change
Reluctant to move into new markets and channels
Very cautious about spending money on new product development
Lots of talk, lots of meetings, not enough risk taking

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen hiring people, make it clear what they should expect.
Don't hire engineers to do the job of marketing or sales.
Give people a vision and strategy for the future.
Allow for risks to be taken.
Create incubators for new business opportunities that are separate from existing business processes.
Incentivize creative thinking by rewarding people who are successful after taking risks.

Moral Zapping

Worked With All Aspects of Company (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at Panduit full-time for more than 5 years

ProsLocation (If live in south suberbs)
Decent but expensive benifits

ConsLocation (Panduit is aware of it somewhat unique location and uses it to deter)
Worst political brown nosing I've ever seen
If in "click" crowd (do no wrong) or looked at as expendable (most emplyees)
Management looks out for themselves. "YES" men.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake Up!
Too many undeserving, awful, mid-term managers. They hide/massage truth from superiors. Offset blame, promote on perception not accomplishments.

Not a world class company

Production Worker (Former Employee)
Lockport, IL

I worked at Panduit full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe company offers good benefits which include matching in the 401K and a clean work environment for the most part.

ConsThe employees that perform the actual manufacturing work are made to feel as they arent doing enough to make up for all the management mistakes and unneeded overheads in place.
Off shoring has created delivery and quality problems that have eaten away at the market share to the point that they are now letting some good people go as management tries to figure out how to save their jobs through restructuring and cost reductions.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of your current managers that cant get along with each other and are creating more problems than they can solve. There is no trust in the current management!!!
