I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have the best bosses in the business. Upper management takes care of me at all times, I have no intentions of leaving.

    Cons

There is no bar or alcohol sales. So profit is a little harder to achieve. Also. It is virtually impossible to hire "cooks or chefs" so we rely on kids to work the line.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.

I have been working at Panera Bread part-time

    Pros

Fun environment with good coworkers and free food

    Cons

Pay, management, constantly micromanaged, difficult to be promoted from within

    Advice to Management

It's difficult because most people that work here are in high school and need to be told what to do, but walk a better line between micromanaging and allowing space

    Pros

Easy job, good customer service experience, and good begging sales position.

    Pros

Pretty decent job for college students. Willing to give you hours and you get a 50% discount on food.

    Cons

working at a face, mess up your schedule, closing can be rough some times, but nothing extreme that you wouldnt see at another restaurant

    Advice to Management

I would say work on helping your employees with their work schedules. Also work on who you choose to be in your management team.

I have been working at Panera Bread full-time

    Pros

Friendly environment, several higher ups to easily approach, flexible scheduling, practice makes perfect (or as close to perfect as one can in a busy environment).

    Cons

If you haven't worked in the restaurant industry, there will be a lot you'll need to remember the first few weeks but after that it becomes habitual.

    Advice to Management

always have one manager/shift supervisor near the cashiers (for easy swiping when needed)

Amazing Company Culture, Lots of Change, Great job if you live in a rural area

I worked at Panera Bread (More than a year)

    Pros

The company culture, everyone you work with has a positive mindset and is ethical. This is a great job if you want to love your job and feel secure and know that if you do a good job and make your numbers life is good and simple. They are willing to work with you and you feel valued as an individual on the management side. You get reimbursed for what you eat if you are working in your territory!

    Cons

The pay is not so good if you live in a big city like Chicago and New York as they do not change your pay according to Geographic location. No visibility when you are a virtual employee so little room for growth. Minimal training after you get hired. Lots of change going on so you can get caught up in it and not have the proper leadership in place to tell you what to do. They are more of take action and make changes and then fix the problems in the commission structure after.

    Advice to Management

Great company culture keep it up!! Pay your management employees on the sales side according to their geographic location. I loved Panera but unfortunately the territory I lived and worked in was in downtown Chicago and had to take a night job just to pay my rent and live off of ramen when i couldn't get out to Panera. If I didn't have to have an extra job nights and weekends and could afford my rent (the cheapest in town) I would have definitely been more passionate about my work and stayed forever. You guys have an amazing company but really need to look at other big corporations and how they pay and train their sales people.
