I worked at Panera Bread part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Teamwork, great managers, flexible schedule for a mom, great products, community involvement

    Cons

very fast paced, short staffed around very busy rush hours (breakfast, lunch), losing hours because of slow traffic

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do not send people home because business is slow for 30 min, lunchtime is always busy and then there is not enough personnel for the rush of customers. Exhausting for associates and disappointing for customers!

I have been working at Panera Bread

    Pros

You work with friendly people. You get get 65% off, on your meals.

    Cons

You work with young people who are not discipline enough to perform the tasks asked, resulting in getting overworked. Their job titles seems to be a bit all over the place. Be prepare to perform multiple job positions while you're expexted to finish your daily duties on time. It may just be that the store is newer and needs time to get to it's full potential.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work really hard and seek any opportunity given for advancement. It'll take time but if you want it. It may be well worth it.

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They make a point to train you in every area, bussing tables, cashier, barista, making all the food etc. You will come out with lots of experience.

    Cons

Depending on the store location it can be very busy. So if you don't like a busy atmosphere then this is probably not the place for you. Also, you don't get tips here.

I have been working at Panera Bread part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great employee discount, they give you the time off when you give them enough heads up, and training managers to be who they are

    Cons

The lack of employees during lunch/dinner time, taking longer to do things because of a lack of produce, hours can be very long for one days work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have enough people when you are super busy on weekends and lunch/dinner times

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, casual business work environment, opportunity to move up and learn. The daily benefits including great relationships and building trust with other associates and customers can be the most rewarding aspect. Sometimes just plain human interaction can either amaze you or make you a better person.

    Cons

Instead of adding to their bottom line by removing unnecessary excessive and high cost menu options, they began viciously removing benefits from the lower paid associates. Bonuses and rewards for being a loyal member of the Panera family slowly but surely faded away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micro managing does not work, unless there is a desperate need. The "sky is falling" way of going about everyday tasks trickled down the chain to general managers, inevitably affecting each bakery cafe negatively. I'm appalled how much money is spent trying to focus on accuracy, when they could spend the money on better training and hands on techniques. Installing "big brother" type cameras only angers the associates and pushes them away.

I worked at Panera Bread part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great entry level job with decent perks (freebies, etc)
Depending on where you work, overall nice crowd
    Flexible hours

    Cons

Flexible hours may mean random calls on time you specified you DID NOT WANT
Little to no training when transitioning around positions
It's food service - expect the worst customers out there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train. Train. Train. Or try to find the time to, at least.
