    Pros

It is a really great place to work when incompetent general managers aren't trying to micro manage you with suspect anecdotes on what they did in another state under a different franchise, which probably never happened

    Cons

It seems GMs are not ready to be GMs when they get promoted and that makes them think that they have the answers on everything when they are in need of guidance as much if not more so than the junior managers. This is evident in many of the cafes I have worked in.

    Pros

Very employee oriented, a lot of retention of staff. No late nights. Very flexible. Easy concept. honestly, you don't need much restaurant kitchen experience to work/run a Panera. Unless you're a baker, you're not cooking or prepping. No late nights. 45 hour work week.

    Cons

Good starting rate of pay, but yearly increases are weak and manager bonus structure is not worth offering. Unfortunately most General Manager positions are filled from within and, at least the Louisville market, most assistants were not ready to be GM's and fail.

    Advice to Management

Seek a higher starting wage when negotiating a salary. Bonuses for all but the general manager are not good at all and very hard to achieve maximum bonus potential. If you have a week General Manager your bonus will not exist.

    Pros

    Some great people work there.

    Cons

Leadership knows about food and Wall Street, but nothing about technology. When they see a piece of technology making money for a single cafe, it's like they just snorted coke and want MORE MORE MORE. They pressure the entire IT organization to expend 100% of resources deploying that one little thing across the board, meanwhile other crucial pieces of technology which need attention waste away. If they would just step back from the coke tray they would notice the stock has been lagging for a while, they are losing customers, and they should let IT professionals handle IT.

    Advice to Management

Drugs will temporarily get you high but always diminish your overall well being.
