I have been working at Panther Expedited Services
Pros – Very pleasant, professional demeanor from all operations folks.
Orientation is good but very fast paced, i.e. a little rushed.
Although you get a different person each call you make into the driver line, they are quite good with continuity - picking up where things left off and resolving issues.
Cons – Not so much Panther as the industry: wheels must constantly roll, loaded, or income suffers greatly. In all honesty, they probably do better than most in this respect.

I have been working at Panther Expedited Services full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Excellent company, open to suggestions and improvements, wonderful employees and company culture.
Cons – Loads and pay vary tremendously. Good weeks net $1,000+/week. However, there are weeks with $0 loads and 0 miles. Hard to survive the slow times without an additional income stream.
Advice to Senior Management – I don't know how you can get more loads but we need them. Texas is another problem. Perhaps you can routinely pay drivers to dead head back to the core markets. I've lost thousands of dollars trying to get loads out of Texas. Love the company but I'm not surviving financially as a driver.

I have been working at Panther Expedited Services full-time for more than a year
Pros – If you like to be stressed this is a perfect job for you.
The training staff is nice.
Workers are nice when they aren't yelling and arguing with each other.
Cons – Yelled at daily by drivers with situations that are completely out of my control.
Far far far outdated software.
Only was trained for 2 weeks, needed 4-6.
System crashes daily.
No accountability
Rules of the company are very hazy
Very little instruction or guidance
Advice to Senior Management – Management does well for the amount of work they have to do. The company seems to have grown so quickly they let there program interface fall by the wayside and the entire Panther team has to suffer to endure intrans.

I worked at Panther Expedited Services full-time
Pros – Benefits are decent.
People with no degree but over 4 years experience at Panther are getting paid the same as people with zero experience and a degree (doesn't matter what the degree is in).
Cons – Some people are friendly, very few people are helpful.
Constantly bombarded with angry driver phone calls about situations that are completely out of my control.
Supervisors give advice to dispatchers to lie to drivers to get what they want, so it's no wonder the drivers always angry--they're constantly being deceived.
The computer system they use is SO OLD it's unbearable. People who have been there for years know the ins and outs of it, while newer people are never taught how to use it, and instead are trained on the NEW system, yet, are criticized for not knowing how to use the old system! (confusing, I know).
There is an awkward atmosphere between people with degrees and the people without degrees who are on the same team. The people without degrees seem to resent the ones who actually do have them.
There is a lack of professionalism throughout the entire company. The supervisors are constantly gossiping and swearing, with no regard as to who is listening or what needs to be done in terms of business.
They have over a 70% turnover rate because they are constantly letting people go, for no good reason at all.
They only train people when they want to, to suit their needs regardless of what the employee does to prove themselves ready for more work. Which also leads into the fact that everyone says there is "plenty of room to move up and build your career," when in fact, there was no room at all.
Overall, a place that is full of deceit and unfairness.
Advice to Senior Management – Act like professionals. Treat others with respect and dignity. Do what you say you will or at least have the courtesy to explain actions so that everyone knows what is going on.

I worked at Panther Expedited Services
Pros – Good benifits including health insurance , life , 401k. Many oportunities for advancment in the ohio headquarters . Not so much in the satelite offices.
Cons – They start their employees out at a low salary , usually as a driver manager then within a few months up to CSR .
Advice to Senior Management – Need to invrease the starting pay to attract good talent. Also poor perfoming employees are not pushed to do better .

Pros – All-in-all, working at Panther was quite enjoyable. Most of the people you work with were a lot of fun and also professional. The pay was also pretty good. The benefits were excellent too. At a time when many companies were dropping personal insurances, Panther managed to keep paying all the benefits AND still matching the 401K!
Cons – I believe they were very lacking when it came to fair treatment of employees. They seemed to fail in the aspect of their own "Progressive Disciplinary" policy. Sometimes a first offense was treated with suspension and other times just let fall to the wayside. They seemed to have a Bi-Annual "Filtering" of employees. What I mean by that is, it seemed that twice a year they would do "Lay Offs" but didn't do it by seniority, they seemed to do it more by "If I don't like you, I will input reasons to lay you off." So, if you aren't management's "Pet", you were getting the axe!
Advice to Senior Management – Get a grasp on your "Progressive Disciplinary" Policy before it lands you in court for discrimination! Learn to treat all employees fairly. Your HR Department should be keeping a closer eye on the way "punishment" is delved out by the Supervisors/Managers. The HR Department should pay attention to the infraction and if it had been documented before and see if the Supervisor/Manager is adhering to the "Progressive Disciplinary" Policy and not just suspending somebody because they're having a bad day.

I worked at Panther Expedited Services full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I actually had great working relationships with 95% of my fellow coworkers, so it was not a bad place to work overall.
Cons – Constant down-sizing in remote offices, should had maybe taken a look at the corporate office as well.
Advice to Senior Management – Either support the remote offices or just put the nail in the coffins already...you are torturing these people.

Pros – Benefits are great and good vacation time as long as you have a supervisor who pays attention to your request for time off
Cons – This place is just a revolving door of people when the economy gets better look for a better place to work. A lot of butt kissing goes on and fellow employees lie to keep their jobs...if you want to become addicted to tranqulizers or booze keep working here.
Advice to Senior Management – All idiots and morons..the good management has moved on and left..no one cares about anyone at this company...hopefully they will get theirs

Pros – The CEO appears to care alot about the company and is attempting to try and make panther a top tear company. He is failing though. The benefits are good and they give you alot of time to learn the system.
Cons – The turnover rate. They hire and fire people out of this place like crazy, and the ones who are getting paid like college grads are the first to go. When the numbers go up they are happy to hire in new people but when they go down, the ones who make the most are the first to go. I started here after college and was let go within two months for bs reasons, only to find out a couple weeks later that this was normal practice for the company. Dont let all the things they tell you when you start make you think that Panther is this all great company to work for. You wont have to be there long to see they are simply blowing smoke and that they need a serious overall in order to get back on top in the world of expedite logistics.
Advice to Senior Management – Start saving your money now, because once someone who knows what they are doing gets ahold of that company, which might just be Arkansas best corp, you all are going to be looking for a new job.

I have been working at Panther Expedited Services
Pros – The benefits package is nice. The regular, everyday employees seem to have a team mentality and most are willing to help their fellow employee for the right reasons.
Cons – Management, especially upper management, seems to have contempt for the employees. Cost of living raises have to be fought for, yet executives use their expense accounts as their own personal piggy banks, bringing along their favorites so it can be paid for by the company. Promotions are made based off personal preference, not management potential. This is if promotions even happen. Often they are promised by management then discarded after several months leaving the employee having done several months of extra work, with no compensation and no promotion. Once heard a member of the executive team criticize an employee for using the local, public transportation to get to work, and questioned if that employee was even a right fit based off this. Have continuously heard members of the executive team call middle managers "worthless," and question if they know how to do their jobs, after the managers had spent countless 50+ hour weeks in the office. I would, and have, advised people to not apply at Panther because of these reasons listed.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat employees like human beings, not as if they are peasants in your kingdom. With the amount of talent lost in the last 3 years, this company would be light years ahead of where it is, if it weren't for you operating a business based off personal feelings and the bottom line payscale.
