I worked at Papa John's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The work is simple to learn but relatively engaging, opportunities for advancement, pay is pretty good after adding in tips, I usually ended up making 12-14 per hour after factoring in gas costs

    Cons

Wear and tear on your car is a huge factor, no benefits, safety is a concern, CEO (John Schnatter) is a terrible human being,, little respect for employees or their personal lives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Papa John's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

No drug testing, got to stay high all the time, everyone including management was fresh out of high school so it made that fun. working with high school kids.

    Cons

No compensation for your work, constantly putting wear and tear on your car (i've gone through 5 cars in 5 years, waitress wages for delivering food to peoples homes then getting yelled at and shortchanged by the customer. Dangerous job, been held at gun and knife point several times, for all the danger and time it takes the pay is not enough, i work 40 hours a week and only get 300$ every two weeks on my paycheck. Entirely not worth it.

    I worked at Papa John's part-time

    Pros

Benefits are good, half off of all dough products. If evening and weekend hours are your thing, it's a good place to pick those hours up during those times.

    Cons

The managers only care about finding ways to make more work for the employees and less work for themselves. They will call you in because there's a rush and then sit in the office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Left the job without a two weeks because of the negative environment and was proceeded to be ridiculed when I picked up my check by the general manager with personal insults, not professional claims.

I worked at Papa John's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Being as I love working with food I really like preparing the food and the hospitality of the regular customers

    Cons

Very poor management, all they did was walk around, while me and a couple of the new and "inexperienced" employees did all the strenuous work. I saw one manager just walk out and not come back for 2 hours! (Not on break)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The entire management team needs to be overhauled.

I have been working at Papa John's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

its a job. they will hire anybody

    Cons

Consider yourself owned. You are property and they make sure you know it. You might find a nice manager or two, but nice ones don't last long. You must be willing to put your job before everything. If you ever need medical leave or any accommodations be prepared to make a choice between quitting, or working normally anyway, despite doctors orders. In the four years I worked there I was never given any slack. I've had stitches torn out while having to lift heavy objects, even though I had a doctors note restricting my lifting, and was told I could leave and not come back or man up and work through it. I resorted to duct tape over paper towels just to hide the bleeding from customers. I worked through a stomach ulcer that caused me to vomit blood. I was given a small trash can to keep near my station so I wouldn't have to run to the back constantly to puke. I worked until I was 8 months pregnant because you only get a 1 month leave without being replaced, even though I had a doctors note restricting my work hours at 6 months. I wound up having my baby a month early.

I worked at Papa John's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you're a daytime driver, the tips are pretty good because you're the only driver there!
However, when the evening shift arrives, you're lucky to get more than two deliveries per run.
Lots o' free food and soda, though!

    Cons

I've never seen a company micromanaged the way PJ's is. The area manager would call or visit DAILY!
When I worked at a competing store (OK it's called Pizza Hut), I'd be lucky to see or hear from the area
manager, maybe, once every month and a half?
It's a pizza place. Don't EVER expect a raise. If you bring that up in front of an area manager, they just smile.
PJ's does this stupid thing called "chatter." It's not in any PJ handbook, but the higher ups expect you to do it.
    "Saucer is the quarterback!"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less driver per shift = less labor.
