I worked at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Good money and flexibility.
    Possible $200 on Friday/Saturday night.
    Friendly & fun fellow co-workers.

    Cons

There are biased managers (human nature) and promotions are given out unfairly.
Long hours on weekends and possibly no breaks even if you work all day.
Sometimes rude customers will test your patience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some managers that are really not fit for management. They are rude, have bad tempers, and biased. These people need to go and the place would be great.

    Pros

Get to meet a lot of people, both customers and employees

    Cons

Dealing with customers and their attitudes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice to feed some food to your servers and hosts. Also, let employees order food after their shift.

I have been working at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There a few genuine people amongst the management staff and most of the employees are greet to work with. No experience needed. They train you from the bottom. This was my first serving job and I was able to make great money starting out.

    Cons

They start you off with two tables. Clientele is horrible on the weekends and favoritism is highly implemented. There is also a racial divide. Most of the management staff is unprofessional and has some type of bitter attitude. Not a good school/work/life balance. Uniforms are not befitting for how casual the restaurant is. Saturdays are dreaded because of the 3 hour wait. We have ratchet and ghetto weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Be more proffesional and show less rudeness and favoritism. Stop being fake when corporate comes around. Show them how you really treat your staff.

Management is very supportive, but corporate policy chokes the manager's ability to keep staff satisfied.

I worked at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Management and staff are supportive and very interested in team work. Management is very knowledgeable and encourages staff to be as well.

    Cons

Because of the limitations put on them by corporate, the management has to bend over backwards to ensure the customer gets what they want, regardless of whether or not their claim is legitimate. There is no customer accountability. I have seen people deliberately and obviously exploit this and the management has to give in because of corporate policy. There is a legitimate fear that people will complain to corporate and there will be a corporate response that is blown way out of proportion. There is also a mandatory tip pool based on how much you sell regardless of how much you make so it is entirely possible that you can leave owing the restaurant money. This tip pool is used to pay bussers and service bar, but the bussers are limited in their abilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Servers would greatly benefit from having back servers (people who refill drinks, pick up empty plates, bring bread to the table, etc.) who are paid hourly while those who are being paid in tips can concentrate on actually serving the customers. This way, the tip pool paid feels like it's actually going to pay for something the server can appreciate, and the servers can take more tables.

I have been working at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Flexible schedule for education. Great training program in place for every step in the restaurant. Excellent opportunity for advancement within the restaurant. Lots of opportunity in cross training.

    Cons

Things can become very difficult very quickly when we get understaffed. Restaurant hours are always difficult. The high rate at which they encourage you accommodate guests is developing a culture where more people are coming in to complain for a free meal.

    Pros

Mostly good clientele, great money at times

    Cons

When you get bad clientele it seems that's all there is (mainly after 9pm)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay middle management better. Don't try and lie to employees we see right through it.

I have been working at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

    Pros

Working at Pappadeaux is a great experience if you want to work in the restaurant industry. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. There was an ease of scheduling

    Cons

Before you can serve if you are just a hostess or busboy, even if you take on more responsibility, it is extremely hard to get a raise

I worked at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-Great and consistent tips compared to other restaurants: red lobster, olive garden etc.
-The restaurant is generally busy, even during slow seasons
-Good co-workers (because they weed out that bad ones pretty fast)
    -Great food
-Great scheduling system (they even have an app for it) so it's easy to switch shifts

    Cons

-High standards, which can be annoying after a while
-You have to have your uniform dry cleaned
    -Extensive menu (lots of studying)
-About two weeks worth of training before you get on the floor, and then you have to work up to get a full section
-If you need a set vacation time off, you can't simply request it. You have to have all your shifts picked up or talk to management far in advance to get what you need off, which they will do generally.
-If you want to go into management, you have to have at least an associates degree
