I have been working at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen part-time for more than a year

    Pros

On the job training took 2 weeks and covered everything on the menu including bar and desert seminars. Teamwork is a priority. Tips are decent but only during peak seasons ( aug-march)

    Cons

Floor managers need to pay more attention to serving the guest's needs. There isn't a real way to "take-off" from work, you have to have someone cover your shift. If you cant find a coworker, you are still expected to come-in regardless of personal reasons to miss work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to train floor managers correctly and hold them accountable for their mistakes as well.

    Pros

Usually pretty easy to get shifts covered, promotions within the company if you show good qualities. Made pretty good money, especially during holidays.

    Cons

Long hours, late nights. Management sometimes gets a "power trip" and can be difficult to work with. Overstaffing on slow days, understaffing on busy days.

    Pros

The people be like family and the discount on the food is great, especially when you become a manager. Tips are not bad due to high menu costs.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities are not available that often. Tenure doesn't mean much to management. Crazy holiday business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My managers were great it was the upper and main office teams that made tough calls that made working there more difficult then it had to be

I have been working at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen part-time for more than a year

    Pros

This job is great to make money. On a good weekend you could walk home with tons of money. The training is long, but afterwards you do have a great understanding of the menu. Base hourly pay is above state minimum. Any outside training before a work shift would include food along with higher hourly pay.

    Cons

Long hours with no breaks or consideration for breaks. If you complain the managers are quick to remind you how much money you are making and where the door is. Favoritism can be an issue and it is important to make your self known, or you will be forgotten. Some shifts can be dead

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The host have to much power. They are great at stereotyping people and giving the tables they believe to pay more to the people they like or managers like. When working for 11 hours a break is nice too. Some managers are your best friends and others just like to be heard.
