    Pros

Taking responsibility for your own store. Ability to reach higher sales goals from day to day.
Company really cares about employees and takes care of their needs.

    Cons

Stressful when it becomes very busy, but definitely not a bad thing.

    Advice to Management

Keep track of how store managers interact with employees to keep communication consistent.

    Pros

    It paid well plus overtime.

    Cons

Everything else. I would not recommend working there.

    Advice to Management

Stop dangling benefits over people's heads then firing them before they kick in. I worked at Paradies for a few months, thinking it would be a good job. Boy was I wrong. I was eventually fired after being stranded at the airport with no ride home, and choosing to sleep off my bad day the next day.

I left a message on the voice mail telling them I wouldn't be able to come in the next day. They told me I had to speak to a live person instead, and instead of giving me a second chance, they called me into the office and fired me.

They are a company that cares more about their bottom line than their employees. Awful, awful people. Only work there if you want to be there for the short term, but expect to get the ax at any time.

    Pros

-You get paid and have a decent employee discount and some at many other airport stores (good thing to use for birthday gifts.)
    -Diversity in working employees.
-Patient when you make mistakes during training period.
-Get to meet some cool travelers.

    Cons

-Because the employees are often coming from different cultural backgrounds its difficult to understand what they need from you.
-Poor communication between management and the person responsible for scheduling.
-Your hours are never consistent (despite being told you'd be working a specific set time before hand). You may be told you'd work 4am-noon but really it could be 4:30am-2pm on some days.
    - You wont know what store(s) you will be working in until the day of (very stressful if you are running late).
    - You might be told to lie to customers about the whereabouts of products in order to get donations for the support our troops box. You are also required to get at least 5 donations a day.
    -Conservative.
-Have to meet creepy dudes buying porn magazines and trying to ignore that fact.

    Advice to Management

-Communicate with your employees regularly, especially when being informed of time needed off for medical appointments.
-Just come out and say during the interview that scheduling is inconsistent.

    Pros

Diverse. Great people to work with. Because conditions are so lousy, there is a sense of comradery. Great team work within some teams. Since management is useless or worse, individuals work to resolve issues and get things done with no direction, input or feedback.

    Cons

Terrible pay. Many people work full time and have second job because they are not paid a living wage. Insurance has high deductible and copays. Workman's Comp is a joke. Stupid sick day policy that does not pay for a sick day until you have been out for a 3rd day which means people come in sick to a crowded office. No chance for advancement. No training either for current job or future. Management makes decisions without understanding all the facts. Over-reliance on consultants who are flown in week in and week out for years.Too many temp used to save money since they do not qualify for health insurance, vacation days or any other benefits. High turnover. Poor working conditions for some with desks in storage areas, 3 people to a space designed for 1, too many trying to work in the same cubicle, musical chairs for some employees every day looking for a space to work. Salaried employees regularly working 50-60 hours a week (or more) with no comp time. Many hourly employees have NO predictability in their schedules. They were hired and told they would have specific shifts. That is absolutely not true. It makes it impossible to complete a degree or arrange child care.Little respect for those who work in the field at the airports.

    Advice to Management

Stop being greedy. Pay workers fairly. Fix the benefits package. Give everyone a desk in a room that has at least a window and that is not piled high with stored materials. Consult people who work permanently for the company instead of over reliance on expensive consultants that do almost nothing.

    Pros

Great discounts at high end retail shops within many major airports in the States. A lot of diversity, which was a plus for me.

    Cons

    Horrible Hours.
    Poor management
HR department told me they were "... too busy to print my punch in punch out tickets.
No way to check benefits or hours
Management is very arrogant, down talk employees
Didn't work well with schedule for school if in college

    Advice to Management

Bring in a new HR team. Communicate more with hourly employees. Be more respectful.

    Pros

Fast paced airport setting, discount on candy.

    Cons

Angry disgruntled co-workers and team leaders that foster overwhelming hostility and negativity. Poverty wages. Work shifts closing at 8:30pm and scheduled to start next morning at 4am. Product in stores has enormously inflated prices. Corporate is only concerned on profit. I would consider it closed thing in the US to slave labor.

    Advice to Management

$9.10 per hour to start as associates minus taxes is not even minimum wage in most states. No courtesy or respect to employees at all. Bullying by management is accepted. Just overall a horrible and disturbing place to work....this is my experience as well as from others at the Palm Springs airport location.
