I worked at Paradigm Tax Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

In the 2.5 years I spent at PTG, I found the people in the Phoenix office are very friendly and just all around awesome people. Very much a team atmosphere. Makes for a wonderful culture. Corporate is just down the hallway so if you have a question for the CEO, CFO, controller, accountants etc you can just pop on over and say hello. PTO and benefits are good. Management is flexible and will let you come in early and leave early or come in late and leave late as long as it's reasonable. If you have an emergency or have a doctors appointment and you need to take off a couple hours early they let you do that as well without taking PTO. Office space is nice as they just moved into a new space as of July 2014. Great opportunity to learn and grow as a professional.

    Cons

Sometimes you have to come in on the weekends during busy seasons and vacation is limited during those times. Unfortunately, legislation was recently signed into law that is hurting the Arizona property tax industry in a profound way and is my main reason for leaving PTG.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My constructive critique of the Phoenix office is that everyone is good at producing, but improvement could be made on how well the team is managed. Also, there seems to be somewhat of a double standard between employees that are tenured and those that are low on the totem pole. Some might say that is normal, but it is of my opinion that all should be treated the same regardless of title or time spent with the company.

Unethical Billing Practices, Clients Need to Question Everything!

I worked at Paradigm Tax Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I am free from working and dealing with unethical senior management and inept "senior consultants", masquerading as "experienced" and "professional". Most senior consultants have no idea how to maximize the benefits their clients should be receiving.
Advertising themselves as a "national" property tax firm, most of their 30+ offices consist of one or two of the aforementioned inept "senior consultants".
It's a mirage! But what else would you expect from a company based mere steps from the deserts of Phoenix?

    Cons

A second private equity group purchased the majority interest in the company in the fall of 2013. Paradigm didn't come close to the income projections "sold" to the new majority owner, prompting a push to bill for everything and anything to bring revenue in the door!

I have been working at Paradigm Tax Group

    Pros

Large company with a boutique feel.

Probably the best company I've ever worked for.

    Cons

There really are not any cons to the company. Great atmosphere with great opportunities for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe consider growth in non-property tax related revenue streams?

    Pros

Start-up feel allowed for unfettered internal access to potential clients.

    Cons

One dimentional focus (property tax only) and small nature of company could be constricting at times.

    Pros

Stability, security, autonomy - really great for people who like to know what to expect everyday, nothing is expected that you can't handle on a day to day basis

    Cons

Redundant, no creative outlet, little client interaction - a lot of database entry and filing, but it's worth the great compensation and easy going atmostphere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work!
