I worked at ParadyszMatera full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunities for fast advancement if you're a go-getter.

    Cons

Deadline driven work and may need to be available to clients and management while on vacation & weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to invest in training upper managers on best employee management. Team collaboration can produce better results for clients and the company than an overly competitive environment where everyone is only concerned for their own glory and career growth.

I worked at ParadyszMatera full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free lunch once a month. Branded m&m's. Free coffee. Benefits are ok. Pay is ok for Minneapolis, but no adjustments are made for the cost of living in New York.

    Cons

Mass Chaos always. Everything is a top priority. No professional training. Account teams lack expertise. Management plays favorites. Old-timers are very territorial and controlling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company while you can.

I worked at ParadyszMatera full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The office environment is pretty laid back
Diverse book of clients keeps you engaged
Flexible hours in the summer and around holidays
This place can be rewarding if you work your butt off

    Cons

Like most agencies, some of the executive members have been around WAY too long - it's led to complacency
The politics within is off the charts - senior management intentionally wages war against up and coming directors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within AND give a salary increase worthy of the promotion. You may promote from within, but you take advantage of it by keeping salaries lower than if I walked off the street.

Positions are not for everyone, prior experience is a great thing to have though for this company.

I worked at ParadyszMatera full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Learning about the direct mail industry

Getting to learn and see just how much information, effort, and time goes into a specific mail plan.

Learning about their current clients and what makes ParadyszMatera one of the leaders and pioneers in the direct mail industry.

The pay for just an associate position was really good, higher than most jobs coming out of college to which was great. The benefits are awesome as well, thats if you can last to see them though.

The company culture is great, the company does care about its employees if you are their long enough with the company.

Company is growing, they have many small offices around the country, and have their headquarters in NYC.

    Cons

The direct mail industry is not for everyone.

If you become an account manager here, recommendations are highly advised to know MS Excel like the back of your hand, and I am not just talking about formulas, make sure you know how to run specific reports and transfer information on an advanced level or you will get left behind quickly with your work.

Needing to be extremely detailed oriented and also adapt to change on a seconds notice, literally.

Their CRM program "Core" is moderately easy program to use, however make sure you ask the right questions about what you need to enter with certain data as no process and mail plan is the same which can make the level of work difficult.

Dead lines are always over your head and you some times will feel like you will never get caught up.

The exact responsibilities about some of the positions at ParadyszMatera seemed to be unclear and unfortunately mis leading, again, highly recommend a new hire to sit down with your manager on day one, even if he or she does not like to talk much, about what exactly is expected and how should you go about the first few weeks and months so you can develop and maintain a good career with ParadyszMatera

Proper teaching of the industry and how to use "Core" was not shown as well, highly recommend within the first week getting some type of tutorial on how to use "Core" and go over with your manager and even co-workers what is expected out of you in regards to your position, this could be a make or break deal during the first 90 days of your employment, in which yes, like most companies, you are on probation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a better training/education structure set up to teach "new hires" the direct mail industry and the use of "Core". If the training was better, and there was a more in depth education program set up to go over the direct mail industry and "Core," retention rates would go way up, you would have a better employee in the long run, and turn over would not be as high.

Communication seemed to be lacking during the time spent here. While e-mail is always nice, getting through to somebody via phone was not always the easiest.

Higher managers should take the time more during the first few month, and especially weeks to set aside some time with a new hire, especially in a satellite offices. How do you expect someone with no prior knowledge to get a firm understanding of how ParadyszMatera actually works in the direct mail industry and also how to use "Core" if they have never been around it?

Knowledge is power to your new hires, the more you supply new hires with knowledge about their position and the direct mail industry, the growth and stability will continue for ParadyszMatera.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
