I have been working at Parallels

    Pros

Medium size privately held company with a large global footprint.
Knowledgeable managers/leaders who care about their employees and career ambitions.
Compensation and benefits are fantastic for the industry.
Very team orientated where your opinion matters.

    Cons

Company leaders work with non-performers longer than I feel is necessary.
Communication at times appears to be not entirely forthcoming/timely.
Work loads at times can be overwhelming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to grow this great company and continue to provide great opportunities to your loyal employees.

I have been working at Parallels full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Seasoned Senior leadership and owners. They make adjustments before the market changes and stay ahead of trends. They put much stock in HR and people development. It's very important and great to see.

    Cons

Normal company challenges, silos, communication, some strange org structures, but nothing that is obstructive for the company as whole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would like to see more vertical connections with the high tech market. For example, Dell, HP, IBM have solutions that tie into MS Hyper-V and VMware, and sometimes Red Hat, but I rarely see Parallels.

I have been working at Parallels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome team members. Excellent products. Very high caliber of employee at the leadership level. Could not ask for a better company to work for. Highly recommend this as a place to work.

    Cons

The corporate offices are a little bit off the beaten path. A bit south of the technology hubs in Seattle and Bellevue. Hours can be long depending on the role since 1/2 the company is on the other side of the world and it is necessary to participate in planning and conference calls.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are on the right path. New leaders have brought new ideas and professional management skills. This instills plenty of confidence in the work force.

I have been working at Parallels full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great place to gain global experience. Leadership is exceptionally well educated. Company is in the right market at the right time. Very sincere staff. Everybody here seems to get along well. Fun place to be on a daily basis.

    Cons

Great products on the consumer side but rigid pricing makes them not so attractive. Doesn't seem like pricing is thought out well. Could be missing huge revenue opportunities. Can be slow to make decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the same rules you establish for the employees.

I have been working at Parallels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

1 or 2 departments are lead by good management. flexible work hours. good people for the most part.

    Cons

older, "jaded" upper management with sometimes "1950's management style" abusive tactics. no real direction, constant change to strategy, low morale, many overwhelmed at their positions within the company, each department is its own entity and does not work together well, very poor communication - a "hurry up and get it done" attitude, but impossible time constraints, constant "meetings" requiring many levels of presentation and expectations don't allow it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Processes and procedures need to be streamlined throughout the company, documented, delivered and adhered to by all upper management - then trickle down to employees. The spooky russian vs. american debacle isn't helping...constant friction between "us and them" - either find a way to demote those in power in novosibirsk so that the business decisions will be made with the customer in mind (not the engineer) which will solve much of the friction dilemma between upper management which then will relive the pressure on everyone else, or sell. Need fresh, young, non-russian leadership to help keep the company in shape to succeed.

    Pros

Very cool technology for building cloud based solutions for telcos and hosters. Some very nice folks that work there. Pay and benefits are good.

    Cons

Company appears to be run by Russian based dev and engineering teams that don't appear to understand how to do business with US based customers. They expect US based folks to attend meetings with Russia at very odd times. The engineering teams appear to lack common engineering criteria on developing software. Which can make the product very hard to use.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish common engineering criteria for all products. Understand the US market and the bar that is needed to sell software to US based customers.
