Pros
Pay rate / salary
Patient Focus
Cons
Support from other areas of system
Pros
Compensation is actually pretty good compared to other healthcare organizations in Minneapolis. Lots of PTO. Ability to work from home when needed. Adequate training budget to keep your skills up to date - in IT at least. Large variety in the type of systems / projects in the computing environment.
Cons
Leadership in IT has changed significantly in since 2009 - new crew will demote or fire you for not agreeing with their views. Leadership is often over confident and ill informed.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire the CIO! She's been the death of IT.
Pros
I enjoy working with the patients. I enjoy working with my fellow nurses
Cons
Senior management make decisions ignoring front line workers. They have fired workers with 30 years experience and good employee reviews.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to front line workers before you make decisions. Your epic roll out is a mess for all.
Pros
Have been a leader in Electronic Medical Record; just completed a major milestone with the full-enterprise implementation of EPIC
Cons
Many restructurings have hindered the employee confidence and satisfaction. Many talented persons have been released or are seeking new places of employment with more stable strategic growth plans.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time communicating to the staff and teams about the larger enterprises strategies and the impact on the IT organization.
Pros
Dedicated to delivering quality patient care
Good group of people (staff) to work with
Cons
A service line (not directly related to patient care) doesn't "walk the talk" which creates mis- trust.
Changed from a "family feel company" to one of corporate mentality.
Pros
patient care, flexible work hours
Cons
Management is unable to act quickly.
If you are not part ofthe hospital location you get no support.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that clinic operations are just as important as hospital operations and support the clinics.
Pros
Pays well compared to other secors
Cons
Too much bad change recently
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the things that matter
Pros
Melrose : Lovely setting, respect from peers, flexible re many personal preferences, much collaborative support from management, good benefits but eating disorders work is definitely not for everyone.
Cons
Melrose: Can be very pressured workplace with demanding patients and you will be busy constantly, with the additional expectation of being willing to always do more. You will be expected to want to add weekend and evening hours or you will be deemed not to be a team player
Advice to Senior Management
Less wholehearted blanket endorsement re dialectical behavior therapy @ Melrose. Would benefit from openness to other approaches. Also doesn't have much in place for children under 11 years old.
Pros
private practice like and no micro management.
Cons
Client contact hours can be overwhelming
Pros
The benefits were good, and available to people who worked part-time. There are many different areas to work in so you can choose what is best for you. Consistent hours.
Cons
There is a strong "good ole boy" atmosphere, and if you weren't part of the "good ole days," you will have a hard time fitting in. Advancement is only for people who have been there awhile and are friends of the original staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Take the time to listen to those around you. Management should have private one on one talks with other staff members to get their feedback. You are not always given accurate information by your managers/leaders.
