I worked at Park Nicollet Health Services full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The benefits and flexible work schedules were really good.

    Cons

I should have heeded my gut feeling in the interview that something was "off" but had been job searching after a layoff for 4 months! Something just not right (and I got the feeling they regretted hiring someone who needed training) and I resigned within weeks. I knew I made a huge mistake. A miserable 6 weeks of my life I can never get back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. Wasn't there long enough to care, just see huge dysfunction!

    Pros

Good orientation. Good comp and benefits.

    Cons

Lack of team work between providers and nurses. Nurses don't seem interested in assisting provider to be more efficient. Provider often left to waste time finding procedure supplies in a cupboard that is locked for which they don't have a key, if the patient was even placed in the correct room to begin with (which often didn't happen). There is pressure on provider to be efficient so patients are not waiting, nursing staff don't seem to share this goal and because they are not assigned to one particular provider there is less accountability. Even though this organization is lead by physicians they have been unable to change this culture.

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible hours, competent leaders, pension & 401k good, very diverse staff, annual salary increases based on both leader and coworker feedback, free employee health clinic,

    Cons

There have been a lot of leadership changes and uncertainty over the last few years. With the merger with Healthpartners, the company has inherited a stronger network of leadership which has made advancing into the future of healthcare reform more advantageous

I have been working at Park Nicollet Health Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great retirement package and a very nice amount of PTO given to employees. Many benefits to take advantage of.

    Cons

The different departments do not communicate or work well together. If you are not part of management or related to management, then your opinions and voice don't count. They'll ask for ideas and opinions, but it seems all for the sake of covering their bases. Like another reviewer said, it certainly is a "good ole boy" atmosphere. Not just in my department, in several areas of the system. You'll advance in the company by who you know, not what you know. Time off "rules" apply to some employees and not others.
