    Pros

    Cool product, great learning experience. Only worth it if you have the opportunity to work on a team that develops controls software, its the best learning experience there.

    Cons

    Poor management, depressing to work in a group responsible for sales that sells very little. Unless oil prices move up--this isn't likely to get any better.

    Appreciate talented people more, work to get them in an environment where they have the opportunity to be truly empowered. Almost every talented person I knew from this division left over time because these things didn't happen.

    Pros

    Many employees have been here for decades; keep your head down, work hard, and they'll take care of you. Work-life balance is par; about what you'd expect from any large corporation. Compensation is good. Heavily based on divisional performance and bonuses.

    Cons

    Because turnover is low, the line for promotions is long and requires political savvy. Advancement is not easy and you really have fight for it. (Depending on your discipline)

    From an IT perspective, invest more in providing services to business units to help them implement enterprise solutions. With the best of breed strategy, integration needs to be a core competency. Either help us do it, or allow us to add resources to our staff to do it ourselves.

    Only work alternate Friday's, exciting product and application, good pay. Work with good people.

    Cons

    Work many off-Fridays, flat organization, profit driven and demanding aerospace customers. Much demanded of employees.

    Pros

    The benefits were pretty good as were company values.

    Cons

    There was a need to make changes in order to win contracts that had certain requirements, these changes were not easily made in a company whose employees at that time spent time there when their parents were working. Those parents and the children both work in what popular belief agree works and doesn't need to change.

    One positive must be highlighted from that statement and that would be several generations of family's have worked there throughout their careers. This dedication says a lot about the company. The resistance to change was incredible but in most cases we made it happen by answering questions, constant communication, and open to hear them.

    There is one location that has major issues with the building itself, this is where changes were difficult. Another location was opened in Fort Worth and this was all up-to-date, and staffed by a wide range of ages and experience who knew changes must occur to stay ahead of competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Many experienced and knowledgable managers hired at that location with goals of set milestones to meet the changes they were hired to make. These managers reported to their management in California and often didn't make the goals because of upper management in Fort Worth. Turn-over is the result. Creating a company that can attract and keep customers is difficult but for those who are pushing the company forward this isn't a difficulty. Hard work? Yes, but with a team who works together it is also extremely rewarding, sometimes even fun. This results in a strong sense of personal ownership, pride, and a team that is solid and a foundation in that company.

    One more piece of advice. There is a lot of knowledge in people's heads that are not documented or oftentimes even known the knowledge exists in someone's brain so we didn't know who to ask. Start with those who will soon retire as well as those who followed a parents choice of employer . Do not think that any knowledgable they have isn't applicable anymore. Processes, the way they have always done it doesn't apply here. There is critical information regarding parts, drawings, what replaced one part and why are waiting to fill a lot of areas in the past. This information is extremely important to everyone working there, and it often leads to big smiles and sighs of relief. The time it will take to document it will be worth every effort.
